Let Emotion Die: Prologue

It was at night it hurt the most.

The empty knowledge that his father had left them all to protect the world.

Gohan exhaled deeply and rolled over to stare at the midnight sky. He was camping out on a hillside a couple of miles from home. The makeshift bed of leaves and grass was somewhat comfortable for an outdoor nights sleep but it wouldn't come.

For a few days now Gohans mind had buzzing with thoughts of his father. It was probably due to the isolation Gohan had placed himself in. It was actualy his mother, Chi-Chi, who had suggested maybe he should get out for a few days rather than studying inside the stuffy house and that she would be fine to take care of Goten by herself while Gohan was gone.

Gohan, although a little curious as to what could have caused her to suggest such a thing. It was the Chi-Chi who had spent most of the families savings on his study. She had very big hopes for Gohan to become a great scholar, or MD, or something with a fancy long title and very good grades.

Yes, his small world was turing around, but only slightly.

"Maybe if you were still alive, things would be different..." thought Gohan, his father again plauging his thoughts.

In all reality, Gohan didn't even know why he agreed to this short 'vacatoin'. It was his place to protect the family now. Sure, Goten or his mum could fly Nimbus over to him real quick if there were any problems (like another power hungry alien attacking for revenge Goku for some obscure reason) but Gohan still felt a little exposed or even guilty for leaving his post. He should probably just cut the camp-out from six days to three...

And just as Gohan finally started to drift off, it hit.

The force that would change his life forever.
