Prologue
His eyes opened to a blinding light. The last thing he remembered was walking into his home in Chicago, before blacking out. When he could finally see he saw that he was in a room, a completely white room. Looking down at his hands, he saw they were strapped to a table of some sort. The straps were too strong to allow any escape. A door to his left opened and a middle aged scientist walked in.
"Hello Mr. Sanders. I'm truly sorry for the accommodations, but we had to ensure that you would not escape. You see Michael, you are about to become a part of a giant leap in genetic science." The scientist said.
"Who are you and what am I doing here?" Michael asked, confused with his current predicament.
"My name is Warren Vidic, and I am in charge of a top-secret development at Abstergo Industries, called the Animus project" Vidic replied.
"Abstergo… How did the Templars find me?" Michael demanded, raising his tone.
"It was quite easy; we have eyes and ears everywhere. And the reason you are here is because of your lineage. You happen to be in relation to a very important Assassin who was in possession of something we require. A Piece of Eden, several in fact, and we know he had them and hid them. We just don't know where. This is where you come in." Warren retorted.
"I don't understand. I couldn't possibly help with that. I'm not my ancestor. I don't know what he did, I don't even know who you are talking about" Michael inquired, growing more agitated with the situation every second..
"Ah, well, I can answer all of your questions. First, your ancestor's name was Aetos; he lived Ancient Greece and was an Assassin. Now, how you are going to help is also easily explained." Vidic paused and walked away from Michael, turning his back."I have created a machine that lets us look at the memories of a subject's ancestor. This is possible because I have also discovered that memories are also passed down through genetics. So, we can access the memories of anyone that has ever been related to you." He walked back to Michael." And you are our first Subject, through your trials will not be documented. This experiment is only known to me, my superiors, and a select few personnel. You are Subject 0."
