Authors note: this is what would happen had Clary never been at Pandemonium that night, this story is about 3 years after that event.

These characters all belong to Cassandra Clare.

It was Alec's birthday and everyone had gotten him something they knew he had wanted, books and a new bow. Things every shadow hunter dreamed of and wished for. What he wanted most though, was not to be seen amongst his gifts.

Magnus. Alec had enjoyed watching him from afar ever since he had seen him at one of the many downworlder parties Is had dragged them along to. They had kissed a few times in the shadows his gorgeous cats eyes gazing into Alecs own. His glitter tipped nails tracing patterns along Alec's back and hip bones through his shirts. Flicking his tongue along the marks, that flowed down his neck.

Those moments had been bliss. Jace and Isabella had watched from the sidelines, making sure Alec was safe.

Jace envied Alec those times, to be able to be free like that, to be able to lose control and let go. It hurt him to think he had lost his chance with Alec all that time ago, where Alec had wanted him but Jace held back through wanting to keep to the rules. He regretted that now, watching the man that should be his being groped by a Warlock, Jace spat on the floor at the thought.

An instant later Magnus was at his side. "is that really necessary? I should have you clean it up, had the floor not already been covered by the drinks my other guests seem to be enjoying. I guess I should feel privileged a nephilim graced my floor with is phlegm?" he tutted and sauntered off as Alec approached Jace, grazing his neck with glittering fingers as they passed each other.

Alec glared at Jace "what was the point in that? I mean honestly, it's just fucking disrespectful. Learn to play nice Jace"

"Don't lie, Alec. Don't pretend to give a damn. The only 'fucking' you're interested in, is with him. It has nothing to do with the floor."

"Jace, we'll talk about this when we're at the institute. I'm going to find Izzy."

Alec walked away and Jace cocked his head to one side, seeming to ponder over his friend's buttocks.

Magnus noticed "You know, as much as it hurts me to admit this to you. He's only kissing me to make you jealous angel boy."

Jace blinked, shook his head and when he looked up Magnus had been replaced my Alec and a somewhat disorientated Izzy. Without a word to alec, Jace took up one side and helped him cart his sister home.

Lying in his room Jace looked at the ceiling, wondering about what Magnus had said, and decided that it was time to bite the bullet and get over it. Just as he stood there was a knock at the door, when he opened it, Alec was there, shirtless, toned, and drool-worthy.

"I had a nightmare; can I crash on your floor?" Alec asked, his puppy dog eyes beseeching Jace not to laugh.

Jace, who normally would've scoffed at his friend before allowing him to spend the night, instead crossed the space between them with a small step and brushed his lips against Alec's before retreating to see his response.
