Running. It was the first thing they had been doing since Jak's parents had burst through the door. They were running through the forest from something Jak did not know and that his parents had hoped he would not find out about until much later. Jak was around five and he was about to find out the terror of Haven City: Metal Heads. They burst out of the forest and were right up against a cliff. Thinking quickly, Jak's father put Jak in some bushes and told him to stay there.
Jak's P.O.V.
I was hiding in the bushes when the monster came out of the forest. It was very big, had wings, and had a stinger on its tail. I could still hear the other monsters coming this way but when they emerged they were smaller, and looked a bit less dangerous. The big monster stepped forward, trapping my parents against the cliff wall. Then it said "Mar, do you think you can fight me without showing your potential? Or do you think I do not know about you?" Mother said, "What is he talking about Mar?" but before Mar could answer the monster said "Fool! I do not need you here, so breathe your last." It had as close to a smile as it could as it hit her with its stinger and sent her over the cliff. I could hear her screaming as she fell to the sharp rocks at the bottom of the cliff. Then the monster tried to do the same thing to father, but when I thought he died I saw a glow. Mar came up over the cliff and floated on wings of pure light. He glowed brightly and said, "You shall pay for this! If I do not kill you than someone will!" With that he shot a burst of light and when it left, all the little monsters were gone. The big one said, "Now that you have shown yourself, you shall die!" and he flew up and slashed at Mar. The battle was long but the monster won. I whimpered when the monster came back, who heard me. He came to me and said, "Your life shall be different now, boy." And knocked me out. When I woke up I was back in the city with a man who, noticing I woke up said "I saw you being carried away so I saved you, my name is Kor." Then a person came over and said to Kor "You look like a reasonably intelligent man, I want information, where the hell am I?" ...
