Everybody in Konoha believes that Uchiha Sasuke betrayed the village, except for one girl. Haruno Sakura knows that Sasuke will come back. And she has a reason to think so...

'You promised you'd come back, so I'll be here waiting for that day...Sasuke-kun...'

Sakura stood at her balcony, looking at the night sky. Her thoughts were flooded with the raven haired boy from her childhood. Ever since Sasuke left the village, she has been waiting for him to return. It has been three years, but she still has hope. Sasuke will come back. He had told her so.

Flashback...

Sakura lay on her bed sobbing. 'Sasuke-kun left...' She continued sobbing until the sound of glass breaking was heard. Her teary eyes looked at the picture of Team Seven on the floor, knocked down by a gust of wind. Shards of glass were around it. She carefully picked the frame up, and found a note stuck to the back.

'To Sakura...' the note had said. She quickly dried her tears once she noticed the handwriting. 'Sasuke-kun...' Sakura immediately read the note. A smile graced her lips once she finished.

"You can do it Sasuke-kun, I believe in you. I'll be waiting, Sasuke-kun..."

End Flashback

Sakura smiled and took out the note from that fateful day and began reading it again.

To Sakura,

When you read this I'll probably be gone. I'm sorry for leaving, Sakura. I'm sorry for pushing you away. But I had no other choice. If ever Itachi found out...he would've killed you...I can't bear losing someone so close to me ever again.

I know Orochimaru is just using me. But again, I have no choice. Don't worry, Sakura. Orochimaru will not control me. I won't let him. You'll see. One day, you'll find him gone, he'll never endanger you and Konoha ever again.

You're all precious to me. Naruto, Kakashi, especially you. I...I love you, Sakura. And if somehow, I survive after I kill Itachi, I'll return to Konoha. But until then, I'll watch over you and Konoha. I'll make sure that Orochimaru will never destroy Konoha. Stay safe and, don't let anyone else know about what I'm really planning.

Sasuke

Sakura clutched the letter close to her heart. "Sasuke-kun, I know you're there." She said to no one in particular. Just then a kunai whizzed through the air, piercing the rail of the balcony. A note addressed to Sakura was on it. Sakura took the note and read it.

Tell Tsunade that Orochimaru's dead. Infiltrate sound while it's still in chaos. Rescue all the innocent there. I'm going after Itachi.

I miss you,
Sasuke

Sakura's eyes widened. He did it. He killed Orochimaru. She smiled. "Thank you Sasuke-kun. I miss you too." She tucked both the letter and the note in her pocket and headed towards the Hokage's office to inform her about Sound's current problem.

"Sasuke-kun, good luck with Itachi. I'll wait for your return..."

Sasuke stood on the tree beside Sakura's house, hidden by the shadows. He really wished he could go see her face to face. Sasuke sighed. "I promise Sakura. I'll come back. Someday..." With that, Sasuke left her home and sought out Itachi.

Before he met Sakura, all that he knew was that he should avenge his clan, even if it meant destroying himself. But now, thanks to her, he's changed. Now, he wants to have a better life after his revenge. A life that would most likely revole around him and Haruno Sakura.

'You've changed me. And I'm grateful for that.'
