A/N: This is something I had to force myself to write. I wanted to write a story but I didn't have any idea what story line I should go with, so in the end I chose this. I got bored somewhere towards the end but managed to finish it anyway. So… R&R and enjoy ^^
Thunderstorm
The thunder sounded outside, rumbling across the sky and echoing throughout the castle. The wind howled eerily. A jagged bolt of lightning tore through the sky, splitting it in half. Grey covered the sky and rain drops fell. The drops slid down the window pane, pooling on the ledge before slipping off. The rain had started out light, but became heavy. The wind swept the drops sideways as the clouds above released their burden.
Zexion peered out of the window as once again the lightning lit the ominous sky. Sighing he returned to his book, shifting in his bed as he tried to get more comfortable. From the pages rose the scent of age. The smell mixed with the already overwhelming scent of a springtime shower.
He was finding it hard to concentrate. The noise and flashes both blinded and deafened him. Giving up on trying to read, he hopped out of bed and walked over to the window. He put his hand on the glass, feeling the icy chill. Sighing, he decided to grab a glass of water. He made a portal to the kitchen and entered it.
As he walked into the kitchen, he glanced around the dark room. There was a flash of light as another bolt arced across the sky. The room lit up before becoming dark once again. He rubbed his arms as the chill bit into him. He shuffled over to the sink where he picked up a glass from the drying rack, placing it under the tap and twisting the knob until the glass was full. He grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl and exited the kitchen. Choosing to walk back to his room to waste time, he started up the stairs.
As he walked past the other members rooms he could hear snoring, sleep mumbling, and…crying? He wondered which door it was coming from. He pressed his ear to Xemnas's door and heard the squeaking of bed springs. He backed away from the door quickly, staring in shock. After shivering from the thought of what was going on in there, he continued to listen at each door until he came to Demyx's room. He could hear the sitarist sob as the storm raged on. He knocked on the door lightly before entering.
Demyx was sitting on his bed, his whole body under the doona cover. Zexion slowly stepped towards him.
"Demyx?" he asked. Demyx revealed his head from the covers and wiped away the tears running down his face.
"Z-Zexion? What are you doing here?" Demyx frowned in confusion.
Zexion glanced at the window before he responded. "I heard you crying, so I decided to check on you. Are you ok?" He was unsure on how he could comfort the blonde. He walked closer to Demyx and turned on his bedside lamp. It lit the room with a warm glow and made the lightning seem less sinister. Demyx beamed up at him and he took it as a sign of him being fine.
Demyx looked down. "I was just a little scared of the lightning, but I'll be okay." He tried to put on a brave face, but faltered as the thunder rumbled once again.
Zexion climbed into Demyx's bed and put his arms around the nocturne. Demyx reacted instantly and rested his head on the shorter nobody's chest.
"You'll keep me safe, right?" Demyx asked.
The illusionist kissed the top of his head and replied, "Of course. I'll always keep you safe."
Demyx closed his eyes and snuggled in closer. Zexion closed his eyes too and they both fell asleep.
