Disclaimer: Eh...

AN: This is based on my own forging experiences. What can I say? Palmacosta Woman 2 made a big impact on me.

There are precious few things that can surprise a four thousand year old angel. The mysteries of the mind just happens to be one of them. No matter how hard he pondered, Kratos could find no suitable answer. No clue or satisfying explanation of what was wrong with him. He knew there had to be something wrong because this, this was not normal.

The problematic event that so vexed him was only a few hours old, beginning when Lloyd presented the Figurine Book to Dirk and ending after the forging of Kratos' first few figurines. They were not exactly what he expected.

Before he forged the first figurine, Dirk explained the process in excruciating detail as he prepared his tools and lit the stove, no doubt hoping that Lloyd would pick something up from the lecture. Thanks to the dwarf's enthusiasm, Kratos now knew every step of the procedure as well.

First the pellets were engraved with a special charm to make them receptive to their owner's memories. Then those memories were projected onto the pellets, warping the metal into recognizable forms. Dirk had made it very clear that the memories weren't chosen at random, that only strong memories held on the very surface of the mind would be selected by the pellets. That was what made Kratos' situation so upsetting.

He knew what he thought would appear as his first figurines, what he thought would be foremost in his memories. Anna, Lloyd, Noishe; or perhaps his comrades, from both the present and four millennia ago. Even obtaining a figurine of Kvar would have made more sense!

But no, what he thought of was... Kratos shook his head despondently, as if hoping to reshuffle his errant thoughts. In those few seconds after Dirk engraved the pellets, Kratos' mind must have wandered. It was the only possible explanation. But why? Of all the things in the world, why had he remembered those three and not something more significant?

Why was he left holding figurines of Raine's Imposter, a Pigeon, and the Wonder Chef?

AN: Yep, you can get a pigeon figurine. (I have!) I used up all my pellets and got figurines of people like Ozette Man 3, Papal Knight, Sylvarant Priest, Cat... I really need to go whup some more basilisks and take their pellets.
