~Kingdom Hearts: A New Era~
Prologue
Why? Why does it feel like I'm sinking, no, not sinking, drowning. I was gasping for air that's nonexistent. It feels as if I'm dying, slow and painfully. Moments later I open my eyes only to find myself in the same condition when they were closed, pitch blackness with no trace of light. My body lies flat in the air, seemingly floating. It felt weird, but I wasn't frightened at all. It was an oddly comfortable feeling. When I had finally settled into the feeling, it felt as if gravity came crashing down upon me, and I landed softly onto the darkness underneath me. Still the same old infinite darkness I had been seeing for minutes now. I blinked slowly, thinking I would wake up. As my eyes opened back up I felt shifting underneath me and looked to my sides to see a colorful glass platform forming underneath me. 'What is this?' I thought. I picked myself up from the floor hazily considering my body actually ached. Looking down onto the platform, it showed an image of a boy. That boy was me. There was no mistaking the dark black spiky hair, the half lidded lavender eyes, and the black crown I wore as a necklace around my neck. I stood wondering, 'What is all this and what does it mean?' In little circles around my body were portrait representations of all my loved ones. There were 3 of them all together. My two brothers, Vincent and Genesis, and the 3rd one was, none other than my cousin Sora. What was wrong with me though, black tentacles surrounded my body and two distinct red ones crossed the center of my chest making a red X. The image was disturbing to say the least.
Now I just felt the need to wake up, but how was I to do that? "You will soon wake up Vanny, but will you be prepared for what is to come?" A distinct whispering voice sounded out in my head. "What is to come?" I retaliated, baffled by what the voice had just said. "You have a dark future ahead of you, you will lose those dear to you, but there is a chance you can save them." The voice, it made no sense, but I decided to go along for the sake of leaving. "Then shall you accept the burden of your loved ones life and save them all? Even if it means sacrificing your own life?" The voice sounded serious and I meant what I said next. "Yes. I'll take whatever burden is necessary. Anything for those, who would no doubt do the same for me." I had no doubt in my mind that neither of the three in the circles would ever abandon me in a time of need and the same goes for me. "You are a kindhearted boy. "Take this and you may just succeed in freeing those you love from that which wants them gone." Just as it finished speaking a bright flash of light emanated from the ground in front of me. What appeared in it's place was a weapon of some sort, in the shape of a key with a star like handle. I picked it up from the ground. "Thou has allowed light into his heart and I now grant thou the luminescence of the key to others hearts. Use it well young one." I nodded slowly as darkness overtook me once again. There I was in my eldest brother's, who was comfortably sleeping, embrace. I didn't feel the need to wake him as I slip through his arms to wash my face in the bathroom. 'What was all that about?'
