Chapter 1:
"I sense a disturbance" Vader thought as he stared into space though the view port on the Executor, a Super Star Destroyer, the first of it's kind.
"Lord Vader". Vader turned slowly to look at the admiral who was talking to him. "We have detected a ship approaching" he said. "It is traveling rather slowly, much slower then hyperspace speed."
"Have you identified it?" Vader asked. "No my lord, it is not in our data banks." He hesitated then said, "It could be extragalactic..." Vader gave him a long stare, then turned back towards the view port.
"Maybe."
"Sir!" Vader turned to look at a young officer pointing at a holoscreen. "We are receiving a transmission form the ship!" "Put it through" Vader said, turning towards the holotable.
A most disturbing looking creature peered at him from the other ship. "We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ship. Your culture will adapt to service us. We will add your biological and technological distinctness to our own." It paused for a second, then said " Resistance is futile."
Vader turned and spoke to the admiral. "Deploy all of the fighters!" he said loudly. The admiral jumped to attention. "Yes my lord!" "And have all of the weapons systems online and ready to fire" he added.
