POV Kayla Hybrid

It was another dull day at school. Nothing but teachers rambling on about a load of crap that no one will ever use. I huffed to myself, gazing out the window. It was a bright summer's morning and I was trapped inside with a double Maths lesson. Oh, so much fun, I thought to myself. I began daydreaming about somewhere else. I imagined myself going on an adventure, off somewhere in the wilderness. I could hear the birds singing, it seemed so real. I shook myself, telling myself it was the birds outside, mocking me with their freedom. I continued to gaze out the window, watching the clouds roll lazily past, high in the sky. I sighed and began daydreaming again. I could picture it now, green fields, swaying in a slight breeze. Suddenly I felt cold, as if a breeze had suddenly stirred up inside the stuffy class room. I let it tease my bare skin. I was glad it was a non-school uniform day, especially with the heat wave we were experiencing. I was daydreaming so deeply I could picture myself surrounded by fields.

"Kayla, would you at least look like you're working," barked Mrs Turner.

She was peeking over her half-moon glasses, giving me a stern look. Several of my 'classmates' giggled as I blushed and muttered an apology. Suddenly I could see a winding path behind Mrs Turner. The whiteboard had disappeared, and was replaced with a dirt tracking, weaving its way through grass mounds and fields. In the distance a man lumbered his way along the path. I stood up suddenly. I never heard what Mrs Turner had to say about my 'inappropriate behaviour'.
