Disclaimers: If it weren't for Konomi, Transfer would have come to impersonate dear Eiji and Silent would have pinched Tezuka's cheeks until he smiled for at least a day. XD
Author's Note: This one-shot was requested by Zannen Munen Mata Raishuu, who managed to guess one of us, Drowning Insanity. She wanted a one-shot of the Dream Pair, Fuji Syuusuke and Kikumaru Eiji. It also had to do something with strawberries and sorbet… So here you go! This was by Drowning Insanity!
Strawberries.
Strawberries.
Strawberries.
Fuji never quite realized what strawberries reminded him of. Was it their texture? Their quality? Or maybe it was their taste.
He could never quite figure it out. What was it about strawberries that he felt were so…satisfying?
He had a hunch, but his hunch was utterly ridiculous. Strawberries were strawberries, and nothing more. They were fruit, and the taste differed. Sometimes it was sweet, and sometimes it was extremely sour.
At least the color was always the same.
Red. Just plain, old red. Of course, the shade might differ, but it was still red.
Always red.
It reminded him of a certain someone's hair color.
Red.
Red always reminded him of that person. It was a strange color. If mixed with other colors, it had a pretty tinge to it. If it was by itself, red would look bold. So daring, so bold. It was a strange thing, really, to think about the color red so often.
If only he could be as bold and daring as the color red, maybe he wouldn't wear himself down with the same pleasant smile that he always gave everyone. Fuji always gave the usual smile and wore it like a mask, hiding his true feelings. It wasn't that he couldn't have another expression on his face, but it was the fact that he didn't want anyone to know how he was feeling. It gave too much away, and he did not want anyone to realize who he truly was. He did not want anyone to be involved with him or any of his businesses.
He was afraid of being bold and daring – he did not want to be robust. He did not want to drag others down with him, or hurt them. It hurt and cringed his heart to see his loved ones wounded, let it be physically or emotionally. He just wanted to be alone, and he only wanted to live alone.
The color red. It meant so much to him.
It meant being brave and courageous.
It meant feeling angry at the worst of times.
It meant…blood.
"Nya, Fujiko! Stop eating all the strawberries or there will be none left for the sorbet!"
Fuji turned and stared at his friend carefully, observing every bit of him. He was always so bubbly, cheerful, and active. Nothing could really stop him from having the best day of his life. And everyday was a brand new day for him; a different adventure was always waiting for him to seek. He lived every day as if it were his last day; his last day to live and smile.
Maybe he should try that too.
"Of course," answered Fuji as he Eiji gave a peck on the cheek. He placed the strawberry back into the bowl, and poured the entire bowlful of fruits into the blender.
True, he wasn't as courageous and outgoing as Eiji. But he would make the relationship work, even if it meant
He would.
END.
Same rules apply.
Transfer wrote the beginning. Then she fled because Fuji was about to hit her for her complaints about Seigaku pairings. XD
And don't bother Zannen Munen Mata Raishuu for the answer. Because she's clever just like the two of us. I think. XD
Reviews are much appreciated.
Thanks.
