Prologue: The Passing and the Ring
The bitter cold weather made visibility extremely difficult for the two freezing souls that were slowly trudging through the snow and weather in this brutal winter woodlands. They were chilled to the bone as they trudge through the knee high snowfall alone with no other people around. They were feeling very weak and weary, the effects of the weather as well as hypothermia were inflicted upon them. The figure that was tall and looked somewhat stronger than the smaller figure held them close to their bodies, glancing around for shelter to rest or in the worst case, slowly pass away from this cruel world together in their sleep.
As if a deity was granting their wish, an old wooden cabin in poor shape was up ahead with an hatch off to the side of the house. The figure would pick up their pace, slowly picking the short figure into his arms as they moved. The figure would go straight for the cellar, slowly moving down the stairs. The cellar looked like it had been used as a makeshift bomb shelter judging by the cot and remnants of empty cans and food wrappers and a stove in the corner. The figure would gently lay their companion down on the cot before making their way back towards the stairs. They would use their hands and closed the doors to keep the cold air out.
"On ne va pas vivre pour voir un autre jour, n'est-ce pas?" The female voice of the smaller figure spoke, earning a slow nod from other figure. She would slowly pull off the pack that was on her back and set it down on the floor. She would then slowly shift and slid off the cot to the floor, sitting up against a crate. The figure would slowly move over and join her, sitting right next to her with the bag between them. The woman would slowly pull up her goggles to reveal her blue eyes that stared at her companion. "Alors c'est ça alors..."
"Je suis désolé, princesse. Je suppose que nous avons fait de notre mieux...Au moins, nous avons fait notre travail pour le maître du mieux que nous pouvions." The man replied as he pulled off his own goggles, revealing his green eyes. Both of their eyes seemed dull from all that had been through and experienced. Slowly they pulled off their own face masks, revealing their features on their face. The female had slight Chinese features with fair skin while the man had fair skin as well with handsome features. He would slowly chuckle and glance at the ceiling.
"Au moins, nous sommes ensemble dans la mort. Même une guerre ne nous a pas séparés du tout. J'espère seulement qu'ils auront un avenir décent avec des gens honnêtes pour les manier..." He would continued, motioning to the backpack between them. The woman gave him a somber smile as well and reached over to pull him into a hug. He would slowly wrap his arms around her and pulled her in, the backpack getting placed against them.
"Bien...Passons une dernière nuit ensemble, espèce de minou. Ce moment ensemble n'est pas un moment que je regrette, même si c'est notre dernier vivant." She replied, gently kissing him. He would slowly return the kiss, slowly feeling tired and sleepy. They would soon break off the kiss and held each other in their arms.
"Je me sens fatigué. Je suppose que je te verrai dans quelques instants, mon amour." The man would reply slowly starting to closing his eyes. The woman would feel the same and was about to close hers too.
"Moi aussi, mon chat. Alors...je..." With those last words, the couple slowly exhaled their last breaths of air and peacefully succumbed to their deaths in that forgotten cabin cellar.
Sixty Seven Years Later...
The cellar doors would slowly for the first time in six decades be swung open by the strength of a small ten year old fair skin girl. She would groan, pulling it open with her gloved hands. She would accomplish her feat and stand proudly with her hands on her hips, looking into the cellar from the ground above the doors. She wore black and brown hiking boots, a pair of khaki cargo shorts, a short sleeved brown t-shirt, and a small brown boonie hat on her brown-haired head. Around her waist was a small belt with a canteen, a flashlight, a combat knife in a sheath, a few pouches for food and such.
The girl smiled, thinking of herself as a young adventurer, diving into ruins and such to find treasure or stories of the past. She had noticed the foundation of an old building along with the closed cellar doors. Curiosity got the better of her but she came prepared with her knife. She would pull out her flashlight, turning it on to shine on it down below. The first thing the light shined on was two skeletons right next to each other with bits of clothing left on them. She would nearly yelp from the surprise but slowly regained her composer. After all, adventurers were supposed to be brave, not scared of bones.
"I ain't afraid of you, bones!" She would declare, walking down the stairs and approaching the corpses. She would stare down at the bones with her green eyes for a moment, until she felt her boot kick something. She looked down to see a weird shaped box cracked open by her foot. She would slowly open it, surprised to see an interesting set of jewelry in the case. They were all pretty colors save for a black ring in the middle.
She would carefully pick up this ring and examine it. It looked strange with a green cat's paw on it which seemed boring to her. She would shrug and toss it aside from the box. The ring would roll and land next to the staircase as she closed up the box and slowly moved back up the stairs. She would suddenly realize what time it was and started to run back towards her home, making note of trying the ladybug design earrings as they looked cute to her. Not ugly like that black cat ring.
So...I just had a random idea that hit me and decided to try this out. Honestly this is probably not gonna get anywhere and the Prologue will stink. However, I hope I will try to improve since I haven't been writing stories as much as I wanted with college and motivation issues. Anyway there is a reason why there is French speaking and no translation. It is to show the language barrier due to the fact that the story setting will take place in a primarily English speaking location. However, I am not a expert of French so just use google to translate. Any comments or critiques such as ideas and such would be appreciated to correct or make the prologue better sounding. Hopefully the first Chapter will slowly start to explain some things as well as show the new holder of the Cat Miraculous. Also if someone can suggest a better sounding title down the road if I do this more often, that will be great.
