Frost and Dead Bodies
They were at a murder scene. A young girl was lying on the ground. She was murdered. Maura Isles was already examining the body. "Manual strangulation," she began to say, "her eyes are bloodshot and you can see by the marks that whoever strangled her wanted this poor girl dead."
Jane's eyes looked at the corpse. She could hear the girl scream, fighting for her life. It made her kind of sad to look at. She was just a kid.
Frost saw something different entirely. He saw a dead body that was lying there. He felt his stomach lurch. He put one hand over it and ignored the sudden urge to throw up. He didn't want to humiliate himself, but he grew sicker and sicker. His face became about as pale as an albino human being. He couldn't take it anymore. He ran to a nearby bush and lost it. Jane heard this and left the body. "Be right back," she announced.
"Frost?" asked Maura. Jane nodded.
She moved to the sound of Frost losing it. "I should not have eaten that!" he yelled at himself.
"Give it up, Frost," ordered Jane. He turned away from her.
"Why?" he asked her. She gave him a you-aren't-discrete look. He turned around and proceeded to lose his lunch.
"Hey," she began soothingly, "if this is too much for you to handle, you can leave. I'll bring you up to speed on the details." He shook his head. "I know this makes you sickā¦"
"Shut up, Rizzoli!" he yelled.
"Hey, just be glad I'm your partner. I don't think any of the other men would understand it." He dismissed her words of comfort. "Alright, but so you can eat something and keep it down, I'll go to the autopsy alone. You don't have to come with me."
Frost felt a little relieved at the gesture. "Thanks, Rizzoli," he whispered. He threw up again. She rubbed his back and handed him a tissue. He wiped his mouth as Jane turned around.
Jane returned to the body. "Everything okay?" asked Maura.
Frost returned to the body, lasted a couple of seconds, and then ran back to the bushes. Jane rolled her eyes but rushed back to her partner's side. Maura chuckled a little bit and said, "Apparently not."
