Note:
Hello!
A few of you can remember me. I used to post "What happened next:..." stories following some of my favourite episodes. I have't publish in a couple of years, but I never stopped writing, reading and of course, I am still watching MM rather religiously.
Taking a break from my end of term essays, I decided to write a lighthearted story about W&J having some romantic moments during their trip after season 11 finale. I wanted sometnig carefree after depressing (but amazing) last episodes, but as it often happens, the story took quite a different turn.
Please note, that I didn't base this story on any personal experience, so despite my best efforts, my portrayal of W&J feelings may be inaccurate. This story was not read by any beta reader, so all mistakes are mine. And I'm not a native English speaker, so there will probably be quite a lot of them.
Trigger warning: the story mentions miscarriage
William was sitting on a couch in their cozy hotel suite in Warsaw admiring his wife's exquisite figure as she was putting the remains of their dinner on a dish tray.
'We had quite a lot of fun today William, didn't we?' she asked grabbing her book from the desk.
'We most certainly did' he smiled, his thoughts immediately going to their early morning martial activities.
'The case, William! I was talking about the case!' she laughed seeing a boyish grin on her husband's face. 'Although, I dare say, this morning you must have enjoyed yourself at least as much as I enjoyed myself, since the alleged jewelry theft was not the first thing that came to your detective mind when I mentioned fun.'
William smiled sheepishly 'That is the only thing that could have come to my mind, given the fact that you are walking around the room in this new French dressing gown… However, I must admit it was nice to work a case with you by my side again. I believe I've already told you that, but you would have made a very fine policewoman.'
Julia smiled sitting next to him, but the smile quickly faded, giving way to reflection. 'It's good that this happened' she sighed. 'Working side by side with you reminded me how happy I am when we are on a case together. I even started missing the morgue... I suppose I should have learnt it by now, I love my job and although sometimes dealing with death on a daily basis becomes close to unbearable, at the end of the day I wouldn't trade my job as a coroner for anything.'
'Are you sure, Julia?' William squeezed her hand and looked deeply her eyes "because it would be natural for you to give it up after all that has happened and…'
'Let's stop avoiding saying it aloud William' she interrupted.
'Beg your pardon?'
Julia took a deep breath and said with a shaky yet determined voice 'We've lost our baby, our little Mary, I had a miscarriage. I think it's time we learn to say it out loud, at least in front of each other. Otherwise I might never be able to truly move on' a single tear rolled down Julia's cheek. William hugged her, his eyes full of tears as well. It has been over two months since their tragic lose, and there were times when he thought the pain started fading ever so slightly, but there were other times when it hurt as if it has just happened. He placed a soft, tender kiss on her lips and breathed: 'I love you Julia, you are the strongest person I know. We will learn how to continue our life after the lose of our daughter. By talking about it, we're already on the right path.'
As it's not difficult to guess, this is just a part of a waaaay longer story, but I doubt I'll ever find the time to write it all down. Anyway, thank you so much for reading this and please let me know what you think!
