A/N: Okay… before you decide I'm crazy, let me just tell you that the random pairing generator gave me the Giant Squid and the Mirror of Erised! So, sorry if it's not very good… I wasn't quite sure what I should write! Here goes nothing though! R&R Please!
"And the Mirror of Erised will forevermore lie at the bottom of the lake, to prevent temptation to even the strongest man," the Minister of Magic finished in a loud voice.
Most of the wizards and witches gathered around thought this was pointless. Burying a mirror at the bottom of the lake outside Hogwarts? What did this gain exactly? But, whatever, it was over; the mirror was being lowered into the lake, causing ripples in the calm water. The witches and wizards went about their daily lives, never thinking twice about that mirror.
But lowering the mirror into the lake caused not only ripples in the water, but in the life of one particular creature – the Giant Squid.
The Giant Squid was swimming around, chasing a water nymph when he saw it. At first, he only noticed a glint as the mirror reflected the sun. Spinning around, he faced his reflection in the mirror. When he glanced into the mirror, he only saw his reflection. He had heard whisperings of a mirror like this one… It was said that it showed the hearts true desires.
The Giant Squid looked at the inscription above the mirror. Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi. I show not your face but your hearts desires. Yup, this was it. This was the mirror. He looked harder into the mirror. Slowly, he began to change. He became less of a ghastly looking squid, but he couldn't tell what exactly he was changing into…
The transformation stopped. All his sea squid heart wanted was to be human.
