Missing Puzzle Piece.

We were like two pieces of a complicated puzzle. We hit it off from the start. We'd always finish each other's sentences and cuddle up at night watching TV. Where did that all go?

As I stood on the balcony of our two story home and watched the sunset amongst the horizon I had constant flashbacks of our love. Everything was perfect between us, our lives were planned out. I shook my head as tears began to form in my eyes and my bottom lip trembled. I pressed my lips together and looked at the sky. It was a mixture of purple, red, and orange.

Below everyone was crossing streets and hurrying to get home. I watched them as they scurried. From a distance I could see a couple by a fountain, just kissing and hugging. I sighed as I remembered things like that.

You took me to a park on my birthday. In the middle of it there was an amazing fountain. The water seemed to glisten like diamonds and my eyes seemed to sparkle as I was awestruck. It was amazing because behind it water was shooting out in different ways. The water was cold but it was beautiful, magnificent.

I turned around and ran to you. As I jumped up I gave you a passionate kiss. About ten feet from the fountain was a blanket spread out. I smiled at you as I walked towards the blanket and sat down. It may have been a bit cliché but I loved it.

Being there in your arms seemed to be the best thing in the world at that time. I took in a whiff of your scent and sighed as I exhaled. You were the perfect man; the missing piece of my puzzle.

We laid there in each other's arms all night. The stars were sparkling in the darkness; the moon amongst them.

It was midnight when we finally got up. You folded the blanket and wrapped it around my shoulders. The snow was beginning to fall lightly. I stretched out my hand to catch the flakes that were falling; I smiled to the sky. I looked at you and you met my gaze as I planted a small kiss on your cheek which made you smile. We continued to walk back to our place.

You made me hot chocolate and we sat there on the couch on the balcony just feeling the cold against our skins and watching the snow pick up. The moon was right above us, illuminating us from above. Everyone was asleep so all was at piece. I snuggled up to your chest.

When I woke up the next morning I saw you at my side with your eyes closed; you were asleep. Your hair was shaggily in your face and I laughed softly to myself. You never once pulled away from me because your arms were still around my waist.

I placed my head on your chest once more and closed my eyes, enjoying this moment of peace. You truly were my missing puzzle piece.

Now I stood here, a single tear falling from my eyes, wondering where my puzzle piece had gone missing.
