Disclaimer: Don't own the two lamps.
A/N: This poem was based on the two lamps of the valar in Tolkien's legendarium.
When the Valar first came to Arda, they collected the misty lights that covered the land to create the lights of silver Illuin and golden Ormal. They placed Illuin at the northern end of Arda and Ormal at the southern end and dwelled on the island of Almaren where the lights mingled. When Melkor destroyed the two lamps, the Valar fled to Valinor. There, Yavanna sang Telperion and Laurelin to existence, and Nienna's tears watered them.
Please review.
Under the bright stars, silver and gold met
And fused into one light, brilliant and white.
Threads entwining in an endless duet,
These two defeated the shadows of night.
Silver Illuin, calm and dignified,
Glittered with infinite tranquility,
And golden Ormal, strong and glorified,
Shone with great beauty and humility.
Who could have foreseen their approaching doom?
Alas, disguised evil extinguished them,
Plunging Arda into a murky gloom.
The wise Valar did not only condemn:
With Yavanna's song and Nienna's tears,
Silver and gold met once more...amid cheers.
