Remember the Name

Author's Note: First of all, I'm feeling very depressed. Second, I feel so depressed that I don't even know how I managed to write this except maybe to comfort myself that there is still hope. Now that I've told you all how I feel today, it's time to discuss the actual story. This scene was directly taken from the manga. I have influenced it some but only for elaboration and not deviating from the manga at all. Not very many Yu-Gi-Oh fans (that I know of) ever read the manga or even get this far. It's not very much but right now, I feel like it's the only life-line keeping my faith.

To prove that I'm not lying to you, here's the link for where I found this scene (just remove the spaces):

Disclaimer: Takahashi-sama owns Yu-Gi-Oh and I'm glad that he made this part.

"Pharaoh..." The Pharaoh turned his head to stare at Seto to let him know he was listening, "If Bakura is alive, the commoners might be unsafe. Please allow me to send my men into the city and see if we can trap Bakura."

The Pharaoh stared hard at Seto, his eyes unrelenting as he gazed into those cold, blue eyes. Seto was very much like Kaiba before he had defeated him in Death-T and forced him to rebuild the shattered remains of his heart. The request was honest enough but if Seto was anything like Kaiba from before that time, then maybe he had a separate, hidden motive behind such an action. His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by several shouts from the guards.

"Hey!" one exclaimed

"We can't let you enter!" said another.

"MASTER!" a feminine voice cried out and the Pharaoh's gaze shifted from Seto to the commotion going on at the entrance of the throne room, the reason for all the fuss being a girl in her adolescence, probably about his age.

"Please stand back!" a guard shouted at her.

"No!" the girl retorted, still trying to get past them and the spears barring her way, "Let me through! Master!"

She wore a short white dress and a matching hat upon her head. Though it wasn't much of a hat considering that it didn't cover the top of her head. He also noted that her hair was blond like Mahad's which was unusual, considering most everyone he had met thus far had been dark-haired, Bakura being another exception. The girl also strongly reminded him of Black Magician Girl.

"What's wrong?" Seto demanded angrily at the guards and the Pharaoh glanced at him out of the corner of his eyes, "Get the girl out of here!"

When the Pharaoh looked back at the girl again, their eyes met for a second, completely by accident, and the young pharaoh suddenly felt a great awakening in his mind as a single, solitary name came to him, and it wasn't his own...

It formed on his tongue and he whispered the name, "Mana..."

It's true. This scene really happened in the manga. The Pharaoh had not met Mana before Mahad's death. He didn't remember Shimon, he didn't remember Seto, he didn't remember his father, and he didn't remember his own name. He remembered nothing from his own time but as soon as he saw Mana for the first time, he knew her name. There's hope. There's still hope for Vaseshipping yet.
