A/N: Wow, what a long break! I haven't written in so long and I'm so sorry! Hopefully this will make up for it.

The Doctor leaned against the TARDIS waiting for Clara to finish up her goodbyes. She was just saying farewell to the kids before flying off for her next adventure. The Doctor protested, saying she could visit them any time, but she always insisted on it. What he didn't want to let her know was that Cheswick wasn't the best place for him to be, at least not right now.

Sure, every once in a while he stopped by Dona's new place to check up on her – he did with several companions. Martha, Jack, Craig. Donna and the Ponds were the ones he visited the most. He would check to make sure everything was going well. Due to Dona's condition, however, he couldn't walk right up to her like he had with others. Bumping into her or watching from afar would tend to be his thing.

Recently he discovered Donna was having her second child with Shaun Temple, and that the two of them were living comfortably. One time he even caught Donna talking to the Ponds – it must have been sometime when he was off on his own because they were now in the past.

"Ready Doctor?"

The Doctor spun around on his heel to find Clara eagerly approaching from behind.

"Yes! Let's go!" he clapped his hands together and entered the TARDIS. He thought out their next destination while circulating the console and fiddling with buttons and levers.

Clara leaned against the console. "Sorry I took so long this time. The children's uncle and aunt were over. I didn't know you knew her."

"Who?" the Doctor stopped his tinkering and leaned around to see her better. "I know lots of people. In over 900 years I've met many."

"Donna Temple – Noble. She married…"

Clara's words faded. Donna. How would Clara know that he and Donna knew each other? "Sorry, what did you say?"

"I said she was telling me the two of you used to travel –"

The Doctor cut her off. "No! That's impossible! She shouldn't remember!" his voice became panicky. "Are you sure?"

Cara nodded. "Yes. Is something wrong Doctor?" she gave him a worried expression. She wasn't used to seeing the Doctor so worked up over someone. "Did I say something?"

The Doctor was running around the console, changing their direction. "We're going back." He informed her. He rushed around, too busy in thought to let Clara in on the loop. If he could see Donna one more time, just once, he would be happy. He could finally see is friend again.

The TARDIS whirred to a stop as it landed, smack dab in the same place they were before. The Doctor ran out of the spaceship with the idea that Donna would remember him, that she would be fine, and that he hadn't made as big of a mistake that he had.

All their adventures, all the fun times and sad, all the people they saved wouldn't be just some forgotten story. He became nervous the more he thought about it. Would she be upset? Would she yell at him? There was only one way to find out.

The Doctor ran up the steps, knocked at the door, and impatiently waited until someone opened it.

"Hello?" It was Donna.

"Oh Donna! Donna Noble! It's so good to see you again!" the Doctor beamed.

Donna raised an eyebrow. "Sorry, who are you?"
