The Tale of the Dark Magician
Sail to Egypt land of sands,
Who holds many secrets in its hands.
Tread upon the crystal powder
Until you happen upon the tablet of stone
Affront a temple standing alone.
On its face you will soon see
The soul of one who gave it all.
Once live and well within the palace walls,
A noble mage, young, wise and tall.
For king and country his loyalty strong
Ahead of him life's road still stretched long.
This was before his end.
He was the holder of the Sennen Ring,
The palace in his guarding,
Loyal, honest, courageous youth
Always seeing everything's truth.
Marked intelligence and inner calm he possessed
But also deadly impulsiveness.
The young King Atem and he
Shared a friendship from the innocent years
Protection of his friend and king
Was foremost on his mind
When he entered that fatal Duel.
Within the temple of his predecessors
Mahado called out his challenge.
Meant for Bakura King of Thieves,
The call was quickly answered.
They met inside, and the entrance closed
Trapping both and beginning the battle.
Bakura's soul beast great,
It dwarfed Mahado's astral form
But do not judge on size alone,
For Mahado's was a mage,
And it possessed several tricks
That evened up the odds.
How terrible the battle was!
Explosions rent the air
The wind was twice as loud,
Fires lived and shadows struck
Winds tore through the stone.
Bakura believed himself victorious
Until Mahado pressed the switch.
Then axe bladed pendulums
Sliced through the air.
A worthy trick it would have been
Had it not killed the mage.
Death and rebirth the cycle goes-
For though Mahado gave his life,
And the Sennen Ring was stolen
He returned as the Dark Magician
And did his number on the King of Thieves.
Such sour payment he received-
Trapped in the block of stone
Having given everything.
He left a tear in his wake.
His apprentice lost her innocence that day
His king had lost a friend.
His colleague struck but held some hopeā¦
She saw him rise again.
Behold him in our present time
Clothed in purple dark as night
Dark phoenix shrouded in deep mystery.
Like the midnight darkness he now wields
Alluring and powerful to many who see,
Capturing hearts,
Bringing songs and stories in his wake.
If you choose to follow his example
And walk that same path,
I bid you luck and fortune
But I caution you as well.
Do not follow too far along,
Else you too may lose it all.
Think before you take the step,
And look before you leap,
For once the action has been made,
There is no turning back.
