I Must Be Strong

A/N: Here's a TenTen/Neji one shot for all of you!

'A ninja is strong. A ninja is solitary. I must be strong.' It ran through TenTen's head like a mantra as the kunoichi rose into the air, her scrolls swirling around her. She spun quickly, releasing the weapons from the scroll and sending them all at a tree. They all hit, burying themselves in the trunk. She called them back with chakra strings and sent them at the tree again, and again they all hit.
Exhausted she sunk to the ground, landing almost gracefully. She gathered her weapons and began resealing them, knowing she barely had enough chakra left to do that. It was well after midnight but she was still on the training grounds.
She sealed the last kunai and rolled up the scrolls before slumping against a tree trunk. It was so late, and she was so tired. "No." She whispered as she forced herself to stand. She wasn't done yet.
'A ninja is strong. A ninja is solitary. I must be strong.'
She continued her target practice with every type of weapon she owned: seban, kunais, shuriken, sickles and more. After every weapon she re-gathered them and put them in their correct place. Finally at one in the morning, she slumped onto the ground and closed her eyes. Walking home seemed like too much work, and she knew she couldn't accomplish it now.
"I must be strong." She whispered before falling asleep.

TenTen jerked awake as someone placed their hand on her shoulder. She fumbled to grab a kunai but found she didn't have the strength, she'd worked herself too hard.
"TenTen. It's late, you should be at home."
The brunette turned slightly, her eyes meeting white ones. "Neji-kun?" She asked quietly. "What are you doing out here?"
"Looking for you. Why are you still out here?" Neji asked as he helped her into a sitting position.
"I-I was training. I just fell asleep here I guess." TenTen explained as she slowly wrapped her arms around her knees, wincing with the effort it took.
"You over exerted yourself again. You shouldn't train so hard."
Her eyes went wide as Neji scooped her up in his arms. "What are you doing?!" TenTen exclaimed as she fidgeted around, trying to make Neji put her down.
"I'm taking you home." He replied coolly.
"I can get there myself!" She exclaimed as she struggled against his grip.
"I highly doubt that, will you please stop moving now?" He demanded.
TenTen stopped. "I'm fine Neji-kun, just please set me down." She pleaded.
"You've been training all night. You don't even have the strength to life a kunai. I'll set you down once I get you to a bed." Neji replied.
TenTen stopped arguing. She leaned her head against Neji's chest and closed her eyes. She didn't awake for the rest of the trip. Nor did she awake when Neji settled her in one of the guest rooms on the Hyuuga estate.
Neji looked down at her unsurely. "Sleep sweet weapon master." He whispered as he bent down and kissed her fore head.
"Mm… Neji." TenTen muttered as she shifted in her sleep.
Neji watched her unsurely, checking if she was still asleep. Finally he lay down next to her. "I'm here." He murmured. In her sleep TenTen shifted closer to him, pressing their bodies together.
"Just for tonight." Neji told himself as he closed his eyes.
