Carlisle&Esme: Missing You

*Esme's POV*
Esme sighed as the sunlight leaked through the window spreading across her and Carlisle master bedroom making several hundred eight colored rainbows. 'Carlisle' she cringed at the echoing thought that wouldn't seem to stop rebounding in her mind. 'It's been two and a half months since he's been gone. Yes we call each other every morning, noon, and night if possible. That convention was very crucial for him, as the guest of honor that is yet I still feel like it's been forever.'
Exhaling shakily she sat up her eyes unwillingly staring at the blanket she'd made with his picture printed on the fabric, a bright smile lit up her features. 'I'll see him soon enough.' Getting up fully she decided to go make breakfast for Jacob and Renesmee since they were coming to visit today. The visits made her smile otherwise Emmett would tease her about being as depressed as Edward when he was apart from Bella.
Emmett wasn't one to understand those things, seeing as him and Rosalie never part. I'm sure if Emmett had to go somewhere Rosalie would demand to go with him no matter what, and vice versa. I laughed under my breath at my son he was so strong but yet as soft as a teddy bear underneath it all.
Once I finished making breakfast -bacon, eggs, toast, French toast, and juice- I settled down on the couch, and right on time with Alice's vision Jacob and Renesmee burst through the door laughing. Edward and Bella at their heels followed by Alice, Jasper, Emmett, and Rosalie so I had been alone in the house I knew it smelled stale.
"Good morning everyone, how are we going today?" I murmured standing up to hug Renesmee and Jacob then the rest of my family there embraces were comforting but left me feeling empty as one certain person was missing. After everyone replied they were doing well I directed them toward breakfast.
"It's great Mrs. Cullen" Jacob grinned at me and I laughed for the first time in these few months "Please, Jacob call me Esme, you know that." I flashed him a bright smile and he chuckled muttering an apology.
Turning I headed for the door hearing a light rapping sound, humming softly under my breath I twisted the knob throwing the door open "Hello" I murmured in a slight singsong voice. The sound barely left my lips before a new one interrupted it –a high screech of happiness- I swiftly tackled my husband off the front porch "Carlisle!"
His warm chuckle filled my ears making me smile "Well hello to you to, what a lovely welcome home" He murmured kissing my cheek while nuzzling my neck affectionately.
"Well I've only missed you like crazy" I laughed freely capturing his lips with mine in a soft but tender kiss letting emotion poor into it. A soft purr rumbled in my chest I was exceptionally happy he was home.
"I've been missing you to Esme; I've been missing you to." He murmured once I'd released him from the kiss. He held me close to him until we both needed to get up; I'd forgotten the rest of the family would have been missing him to.
