Riza: Alright, it's taken me a while, but I combined my little thoughts and half-finished storied to make the first chapter to a HP series. By the end of this, 50 of you are going to hate me and 50 of you are going to love me. –smiles- I wish you'd all love me, but I've changed the HP story a bit so there will be some haters.
This is AU as in Alternate Universe. KIND OF!! Harry grows up without parents only to find out that Lily's been alive the whole time. Either way; on with the story:
Lillian Evans glowered down at Severus Snape who was on his knees, holding her hands, begging her to reconsider. She was sickened at the sight of him. The boy who had been her best friend was now begging for them not to be enemies. She had loved him…trusted him…
"I know that's how those dark friends of yours think about me…Mudblood Evans!" She hissed angrily before storming off leaving the broken Snape angry and crying on the floor of the hall. This marked the end of their friendship as it would be known…soon after he joined the legions of Death Eaters who followed the Dark Lord Voldemort…
Lily looked up from her book to smile as her husband walked in the door and hung up his coat. He had taken to going to meetings with the order during the day while Lily stayed home with Harry. He walked over and leaned down, giving her a gentle kiss.
"Where's Harry?" James asked, looking around the room for their son.
"Taking a nap." She replied softly, snuggling into the couch a bit more.
"This close to dinner time? He usually begs to eat right about now." He said with a smile and laugh as he sat next to Lily, pulling her into his lap. She slipped off her reading glasses and looked back at him with those sparkling, green eyes. He smiled and placed a gently kiss on her lips. As if on cue, Harry began crying the second their lips brushed. She sighed a little, but smiled as she got up.
"The pasta is almost done, James, could you put it out on the table for me?" She asked as she ascended the stairs to her son's bedroom.
"Sure thing, Lily…" He said as he went into the kitchen. She brought Harry down and handed him a bottle since he was old enough to hold it himself now. She sat next to James and smiled, eating quietly with him and their son.
"Dada!" Harry squealed happily as he noticed his father was there too. James smiled and leaned over, kissing Harry's forehead. The little boy giggled a little and continued to drink his bottle. Lily smiled at the two.
Footsteps could be heard. Steady, rhythmic steps that fell in time at an odd, eerie tempo. Cloth rippled in the fall breeze as leaves encircled the man. His victims were down the street and there was no one who would save them. He neared the picket fence, opening the gate, stepping onto the freshly cut, carpet of grass that covered the Potter's lawn in an even coat of green.
Meanwhile, Lily and James Potter were in the nursery, putting their one-year-old son, Harry, to bed. Lily was singing a lullaby and James was listening happily. He liked when she sang. He stood and kissed Harry goodnight before going down to get ready for bed. Suddenly, Lily heard a yell and things began to bump around downstairs. She let out a yelp and went to leave the room when she saw him… A bald, very pale man with a pair of slits for nostrils on his nose-less face was staring at her with yellow, piercing eyes. She screamed and slammed the door shut, turning to protect Harry as she heard an 'Alohamora' spell cast. Then she heard it…the spell she knew he would say next……….and everything went black…she was sure that she was dead.
"Lily…"
"Lily?!"
"Yes, Lily…"
"…Harry…"
"Not James..."
Lily awoke with a start and cried out as pain rippled angrily through her tiny body. She lay back down as someone rushed to her side.
"J…James…?" She inquired, her vision blurred.
"No, Lily, I'm not James…" A familiar voice replied. She barely recognized it, but finally managed to remember.
"Sever…us…" She mumbled, looking up at him the best she could. She ran her fingers over his cheek.
"Yes, that's right…Lily I'm sorry…"
"Oh, Severus, forget the fight, it was stu…"
"That's not what I'm apologizing for, Lily…" He said softly. Lily looked at him with a worried gaze.
"What is it?" She asked.
"James…is gone…" He replied softly, knowing that she would react either with horrible violence or with even worse sobbing…or both…
Instead, Lily didn't move nor did she make any noise at all. It was eerie.
"L…Lily?" Severus managed, touching her shoulder. She shied away a little.
"Harry…where's Harry?!" She asked next, her eyes suddenly full of fear that she had failed.
"He's safe." He said and she relaxed a little.
"But…James is…and I should be…why aren't I?" She looked at him as if expecting him to keep up with her babbling.
"We don't know why you and Harry survived. You made it out, but barely, you really shouldn't even move…Harry's fine…just a little scar…" He assured her, helping her lay back down. She looked dizzy and confused.
"Where…am I…and where's Harry?" She asked, looking up at him once again.
"You're at Hogwarts…Harry's at Petunia's."
"Why?!"
"Lily…the whole world…thinks you're dead." He said softly. At this she shook her head, but it was all to much as darkness overcame her once again. She slipped into unconsciousness.
"What are we going to do, Albus? She wasn't supposed…" McGonagall began, but was interrupted by Cornelius Fudge.
"Since when did Lily ever do anything that she was supposed to? She was supposed to marry Severus so she'd survive, she was supposed to become rich, smart, and she was supposed to have a son who wasn't tracked by the Dark Lord…" Fudge said in that tone of his.
"That is not true. Lily is perfect, she did everything she was supposed to and although we predicted that she'd die, she exceeded out expectations and lived through the torture of the Killing Curse. Surely you can't say that she should have put herself in more danger by marrying a Death Eater despite her blood just because she lived in a situation that no one ever has before. Lily and Harry are truly remarkable…" Albus Dumbledore said in defense to Lily.
"She shouldn't be alive, Dumbledore! She must be locked away so the Dark Lord doesn't attack again!!" Fudge cried aloud. McGonagall snapped at this.
"Lily is the embodiment of perfection in a clever, quick mind, pure bravery, loyalty, overall goodness of soul and action, and beauty to top it all off and you want to lock her in some cell like a criminal?!" Minerva yelled. Albus grasped her shoulder gently.
"And what of the boy, don't you think he deserves a mother if she's still alive?"
"His aunt can raise him just fine. Lily will be locked up in Azkaban until we can safely say she's alive. No one else is to know about this, not even Harry." Fudge said and left. Dumbledore and Minerva looked at each other with matching looks of disgust and anger…and fear.
"What do you mean, Azkaban?! She hasn't done anything! You can't take her!! I just got her back!!" Severus fought as Dumbledore explained the situation.
"We understand, Severus, but she must…."
"She just lost her family! She needs to see her son and they need to…"
"No! Fudge's word is final. She will be safe there."
"She won't be safe when she ends up like Bellatrix!" He shouted. The woman had been locked up for only a couple years, but there were already rumors floating around that she was insane. Severus sighed and looked in through the glass of the door at Lily who still lay asleep in the hospital wing. She had a scar on her chest from where she had gotten hit, but it wasn't visible through her clothing. He fisted up his hand and punched the wall furiously, crying.
Riza: I hope you liked it, next chapter to come soon. I know it's a little bouncy, but it kinda had to be.
