There was a large bump in her throat. For some reason, she thought moving across the country for a fresh start was the smart thing to so. Well, scratch that. Her mother thought it was the smart thing to do. Being only twenty with no much of an income, didn't give her much of a choice, though.

The University of Seattle towered in front of her. Students, teachers and residents of Seattle were zooming by her, not taking a second glance. She had to find her footing. She could do this, right? It was just college.

Finding the Administration building was a more complicated task than anticipated. Visiting every building, she almost gave up completely until her last attempt landed her exactly where she needed to be. Taking a deep breath, she opened up the door.

"I'm really not trying to get drunk to-" Conversation completely stopped between the two students and soon as her presence was noticed. "How can I help you?"

"I had a meeting with uh," She fumbled with a piece of paper, attempting to find some details, "Angela fifteen minutes ago, but I got lost."

"Her office is right down that hall. It'll be your first door on your right."

"Thanks," Forcing a smile, she walked past the two students, who she assumed to be part of a work-study program, and knock on the advisor's door.

"Meredith Grey? Come on in!"

Look into my eyes
Eyes are the windows to the soul
Look into my eyes
Oh you will know
There is no surprise, eyes
Because love is plain to see
Look into my eyes
Eyes

"So right now we have you scheduled for English 101, Psychology 101, Sociology 101, Biology 101/103, and Math 126C. Is six classes going to be too much for you? Or can you handle the work load?"

"I can handle it, Ma'am," Meredith nodded with her hands sitting awkwardly between her knees.

"Perfect," Angela beamed in her deep southern accent. "Would you like to declare a major? Or keep it as undecided?"

Meredith took another deep breath. All of her teenage years, she strived to be nothing alike to her mother. But, as they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, "Biology with a Pre-Medicine track."

"Ambitious," She smiled. "Well, we are very happy to have you here Meredith and we will see you on Monday for classes."

"Thanks so much," Meredith rose to her feet, retracing her steps towards the entrance of the building.

"Hey, uh, blondie."

That statement made her stop short and turn around. "Me?"

"Yes," He laughed, standing on his feet. "My name's Mark Sloan. My friend Derek and I like to introduce new students to the whole college scene." Meredith just kind of stared at him, confused as to where this statement was going. "Anyway, I was going to invite you to the bar tonight. You know, hangout, get a drink, talk about the town."

"As much as I would love to talk about the town, I have to unpack a whole house tonight. I appreciate the offer, Mark, but I guess you'll have to catch me next time." Meredith semi rolled her eyes, trying to get out of the office as quickly as possible now.

"Well, if you change your mind, we'll be at First and Ten. In case you're not twenty-one, they don't ID."

"I'm still gonna pass, sorry, guys," With that, she quickly walked through the front door to avoid any other awkward conversation that was bound to come.

"Talk about the town? Are you her fucking Dad?" Derek chuckled throwing a balled up piece of paper at him. "Do your shit so we can get out of here."

"Watch, she'll show up."

Truth is truth
And time can never leap it
This I know
We will always keep it
