It was as quick as lightning. One moment her husband was saving her. The next moment, he was going to save Hiccup.

The moment after that, he was on the ground.

Her life flashed before her eyes, of a time all those years ago, when she still lived on Berk.

When she was a young girl, and would train with the other's even if her heart was never in it.

When she and Stoick started to spend more time together. How he was so nervous when he asked to court her. The day he gave her his betrothal gift, a beautiful medallion that he carved.

She remembered the days leading up to their wedding, and her excitement. The love she saw in his eye's when they married. The day she realized that she would have a child. The day Hiccup entered the world.

And the day she left Berk. Seeing Stoick and Hiccup down in their burning house, hearing her husband cry for her.

She really had loved living with the dragons, but at the same time every day was torture without Stoick and Hiccup.

Valka's senses kicked in and she ran, sliding over the ice and snow to get to her husband, while scenes from the day floated through her mind.

Seeing Stoick after all those years. She had expected him to shout at her, to scream at her, but instead... Instead he told her that she was beautiful, and he kissed. She had never thought that she would feel him kiss her ever again, but she did.

Just like she had never though she would sing and dance with him again. Feel his arms around her again...

Valka dropped to her knees as she reached her son and husband. She helped Hiccup too roll Stoick onto his back, then placed her head on Stoick's chest, hoping to hear a heartbeat, to her something.

But all there was, was silence.

Tears pooled into her eye's but she held them back, only making a whimpering sound as she looked to Hiccup.

The great Chief of Berk, a father and husband, was dead.

And she would never feel her hand in his again.

I don't know why I did this...
