Adults console themselves with lies
Pretend to ignore, pretend not to care
But I can see fear in their eyes
A blast of icy breath
Pocket full of posies
Our town reeks of death
Unsettling smile to scare all others
I need no one else to stand in my way
I have the Children, my sisters and brothers
We are too young to slaughter
Jack fell down for King and crown
Blood is thicker than water
Harvest time is drawing near
Yet in the back of my throat and mind
Lingers the bitter taste of fear
Our very town is crumbling
Stones are dropping all around
The grown-up's pride is stumbling
They wave as the fire devours the screams
Inside, every last woman and man
Is lost to the flames that shimmer and gleam
Tonight there's a bloodless moon
The dogs, how they howl to see our dark deeds
The harvest will be here soon
I lead them on to salvation pure
The bodies are piling in a wretched heap
I tell them it's right, but I'm not so sure
We laugh at their half-witted plans
Screaming, he tumbles and takes a great fall
The rest is in the Lord's hands
They think they can stop me? Let them try
The time has come to set things right
The corn will flourish and the weeds will die
I didn't know, I swear I didn't know
The things I've seen, the things I've heard
I paid the price-- now I have to go
