Summary: "I'm just so glad you're okay". Fluffy one-shot between Castle and Beckett taking place after Probable Cause. Slight spoilers?

"That was a rough case," Castle said as he lay on his bed and stared at the ceiling of his bedroom.

"Mmm," Kate's murmur of agreement came from beside him.

"Y'know, holding could use some new jail cell bars the ones they have are kind of rusty," Castle joked halfheartedly.

Kate turned over onto her side to look at Castle. "I don't know how you're already making jokes about this. You were almost killed Castle," she said with concern in her voice.

Castle also turned to look at Kate and reached his arm up to tenderly run his thumb next to the cut that decorated Kate's normally smooth cheek. "Because it's the only way I know how to cope Kate. I'm not good at just facing things head-on like you somehow do."

Kate also reached up to touch Castle's temple where the intensity of the day was shown through his own injury. "I'm just so glad you're okay," she said with her voice barely above a whisper.

"I know," Castle said as he moved his head forward and kissed Kate. After he pulled back from the kiss he said, "I'm still not used to that."

Kate gently smiled and responded, "Me either."

They spent several moments of silence looking into each other's eyes before Kate said, "By the way, I thought it was interesting that seeing as you're a famous novelist you escaped and then went to hide in a library… the most likely place someone would recognize you."

Castle's face remained stoic for a beat before he responded, "I actually did not think about that." His face then spread into a wide grin as he realized the absurdity.

"Oh, Castle," Kate said also smiling. "You were very incognito in your cute hat though."

"Oh wow I get a nice vocabulary word and a compliment about being cute in one sentence. What did I do to deserve you?" Castle said as he leaned in for another kiss.

Kate reached up and put a finger against Castle's lips before they arrived at their destination and said teasingly, "I said the hat was cute not that you were."

"Ouch. Well I'll tell my hat you said that," Castle said in mock indignation.

"You looked like a little kid," Kate said.

"Act like one too," Castle responded.

"Very true," Kate replied as she then moved to kiss Castle. During the long kiss, Kate had a realization and suddenly pulled back.

"What is it?" Castle asked with concern lacing his voice.

"I just remembered something I should probably tell you…" Kate said slowly.

"And what's that?"

"Well… it seems Ryan has known about us being together ever since the Hamptons trip-"

"I knew it-" Castle interjected before then being interrupted himself as Kate finished her sentence.

"And he told Espo at the beginning of this case figuring he should probably know because of everything that was going on at the time," Kate finished.

"Well, they're going to keep it quiet right? I mean you told them to keep it quiet? Because they're afraid of you so they would listen to you," Castle began to babble.

Kate glared at Castle and said, "They're not scared of me, Castle. Are you saying I'm scary?"

Castle looked like a deer in the headlights as he said, "Well you can be pretty intense at times…" and trailed off. "Especially in bed," he added and wiggled his eyebrows.

"You did not just twist that to become sexual," Kate said.

"Actually I did, I excel at that," Castle responded.

"Let's see what else you excel at," Kate said as she and Castle then shared a long, passionate kiss.

"Yes, let's," Castle said breathlessly.

Fin.
