Short oneshot that popped into my head after seeing the image. I'm not sure who the original image is accredited to, but many sources pop up when you search the title of this fic. I know it's early for Valentine's Day but... this fic wanted out of my brain.
I don't own the characters or the image.
Sirius plopped down at the Gryffindor table, his arms overflowing with valentines cards. Remus snorted. "What?" Sirius looked at him.
"There's no chocolate," Remus observed. "Not a very good stash if you ask me."
"Well nobody asked you," Sirius grumbled, shaking a particularly pink and glittery card over his head. Remus ran his fingers through his hair, trying to make it less sparkly. Sirius laughed. "You look just like Prongs…speaking of Prongs, where has he got to?"
"Probably with Lily, right?"
"Huh… but Evans is sitting over there glaring at her bacon. Maybe it offended her somehow. I should probably eat it for her."
"Don't you dare," Lily called over, somehow having heard their conversation. "And are you sure you don't know where James is?"
"Contrary to popular opinion, we're not actually attached at the hip," Sirius told her. He scratched his chin. "Well, except that one time when that prank on Snivellous went wrong." Lily grunted.
"Don't want to hear about it Black."
"Well what's got your knickers in a twist?" Sirius leaned over the table, attempting to sneak a piece of bacon off her plate. Lily slapped his hand with her wand, shocking him with red and gold sparks. He yelped.
"Anything we can help you with?" Remus asked kindly. Lily flushed, clashing horribly with her hair.
"I was…just wondering if he got my card yet," she said quietly.
"Oh?" Sirius quirked an eyebrow. "I'm intrigued, what was this card like? More like this?" He held up a lacy heart. "Or more like this?" He held up a naughty limerick written by a particularly clever Ravenclaw. Lily laughed in spite of herself.
"No….it was….well you'll see, there he is now."
Indeed James Potter was racing towards the table at top speed. "I love it," he told her, covering her face in kisses. Lily grinned. Sirius was leaning over sideways, trying to get a look at the card clutched in James' hand. Remus snatched it up sneakily.
"Hey!" James protested. "Get your own beautiful handmade card Moony."
"No chocolate," Remus repeated. His lips twitched. "It's adorable though."
"Oh really?" Sirius glanced over his shoulder. He barked out in laughter. "Alright, I'll admit, that's good. Come here Evans." Lily eyed him suspiciously. "Don't worry, I'll be as innocent as a cherub today." Lily looked doubtful, but Sirius caught James' eye and wink. James gently pushed his girlfriend towards his best mate. Sirius waved his wand over her, a small heart shaped pin appearing on her chest. Lily tried to read it upside down. "I've awarded you the best valentines day card of the year," Sirius explained. She blinked at him.
"It's a big honor love," James said. "He's got a lot of applicants after all." He gestured at the huge pile.
"I see." Lily stared at him, and then leaned over and pecked him on the cheek. Sirius froze. James frowned. Remus laughed. He stood up and offered Lily his arm.
"Shall we head to Honeydukes for half-off priced leftovers?"
"Don't mind if I do."
Sirius and James exchanged a look. "Wait for us!" They chorused, rushing after their friends.
