Prologue

When I was sparked, I was given a number in place of a name: D-16. I was at the bottom of the caste system, a nothing. Now I have a name, one that will be remembered for ages to come.

When I was sparked, I was given the name of a great leader long dead. I was expected to do great things, not only because of the name, but because of my social standing as a member of the royal family. I intend to exceed those expectations.

No one will ever forget me.

No one will ever compare me to him again.

I will go down in history as Cybertron's liberator. The caste system will be no more. Everyone will be free.

And I will rule at the head of that new world as its protector. Someone has to do it.

I will create a governing body that will take care of the planet's and the people's interests. It must be done by someone.

It may as well be me.
