Lament of Hyrule

ReverseSide

Preface: We need Link and Zelda now, in today's world, to stop corruption and tyrants alike. Where are they? The heroes of time? We need them to stop the lethargy of life, from the demons of compromise! But on to the story…

Edit: Apparently I cannot use tab and/or multiple spaces to create 'dynamic 'poetry. I fear I have to replace them with '.' Instead.

What is this play, this land that we see?

Where fairies live
. . . and talking trees?
Where demons lurk with villainous tones
. . . and houses echo with many a groan?
This is Hyrule
. . . land of magic.
The tale it tells is tragic.
. . . Quite tragic.

Who is this that thirsts for power?
. . . Who searches for an innocent flower?
He rides a steed, black as night.
Opposer of virtue,
. . . of all that is right.
It is Ganondorf; the thief king.
Ruin to Hyrule, he brings.

Who can perceive the enemy's cunning?
Who will stop darkness' wheel from ever turning?
. . . cure the blight from ev'ry land?
. . . and return it to proper hands?
Beautiful Zelda, loving and wise.
Will she save Hyrule from a treacherous demise?

Where is the saviour, the shield of Hyrule?
. . . The light-wrought sword he wields; a means.
Whom nature caress and forests sing?
Who will defeat the evil king?
Link shall defeat the King of All Evils
. . . he will save the land from every peril.

But Zelda is gone
. . . vanished into the wind
and Link is missing
. . . locked outside of time
and Ganondorf has overcome reason and rhyme.

What can we do? What prayer can we find?

We need wise Zelda, with words to encourage.
We need brave Link to give us courage.

O! Hasten back, children of light!
Vanquish the devil! Restore all that is right!
We need you now, help us to fight!

AN: Whew! My dry spell of non-creativity is over! As stated in my profile, I have deleted The Story Told. It was just draining far too much of my creativity… it had to be stopped. I was inspired to create this little poem after reading The Phantom Tollbooth by Norten Juster.

As always, constructive criticism is encouraged. It is a whole lot more useful to me than one-line 'great job' reviews.
