I carry your heart

Fred blinked in horror at his surroundings. Everything was white, clean. Confused, he looked beside him, in hopes that his brother could shed some light on the situation, but George was nowhere to be found. He looked around, although he could see other people, all dressed in white - like him, he felt alone. Truly alone.

Just then a small group of people approached him. Fred gasped as Sirius, Remus, Tonks, Ted Tonks and Dobby walked towards him, smiling weakly. That was when Fred knew.

"I'm dead aren't I." he stated, emotionless, he didn't need to ask, he knew. Tonks looked up at him,

"For 3 months now," she said, "it takes a little time to…you know…" Fred nodded.

"And George?" he asked, scared for the answer.

"He's fine." replied Remus.

"Very sad, but healing." reassured Sirius.

"You can see for yourself if you'd like?" suggested Dobby, his large eyes, gazing up at Fred.

"I'd like that very much, Dobby." He replied, more serious than he'd ever been about anything in his entire life.

Fred watched as Dobby crouched down and gently stroked hand his across the floor. Fred knelt down beside him and looked down at the area where Dobby's hand had just brushed, to see his brother, soundly sleeping in his bed, at The Burrow.

Sleep well George, I miss you. But please, don't forget to laugh, or to lighten the tension.

I love you.

Fred willed his thoughts in to his brother's dreams.

George woke with a start, and smiled. He knew he had just heard Fred, talking to him. George slowly dressed and walked down to his brother's grave, in The Burrow's small orchard.

"I miss you too Fred, you were not only my brother, you were my best friend.

I love you."

George slowly pulled the EE Cummings poem out of his pocket, and laid it on his brother's grave.

"For you."

He whispered, as he slowly walked back inside.

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart)

i am never without it (anywhere i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling)

i fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet)

i want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)

and it is whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing is you.

here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)

and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)

A/N the poem "I carry your heart with me" belongs to EE Cummings, it's his poem, not mine.
