"Why is it different?" Fiyero asked himself. He had first found the mirror when he arrived at Shiz, but now, a month or so later, the mirror with the strange inscriptions; Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on whosi, had undergone a change.
Fiyero scanned the room behind him. Alas it was empty, except for a cabinet out of which his things kept vanishing. (He assumed someone was stealing them.)
Gingerly, he pressed his fingers to the dust-coated glass, where he had first seen no one but himself behind the particles. He now saw, behind the glass, separated by an impassible barrier in the mirror he called Erised, was the green skinned girl Elphaba Thropp.
