New Family
Mini sum: The Guardians are back at the Pole after the battle with Pitch. Jack doesn't exactly feel welcome after being alone for 300 years. Can the Guardians make him feel welcome as friends or even family?
As the Guardians got off the sleigh, North started shouting orders to the yetis to prepare a big feast in celebration of their victory.
Jack was in the back of the globe room as the other Guardians sat on couches and chairs. He didn't feel too welcome, all the other Guardians knew each other and ignored him for 300 years. He was just something used to defeat Pitch, now that Pitch was gone he was useless to the Guardians. Jack just opened the door and slipped out, leaving the Guardians behind.
There is no reason they would want me around. Jack thought glumly just outside the workshop walking away, I'm useless, annoying, they have their right to ignore me. "I'm just someone they don't want around. I'll see them again next time they need me to defeat someone." He thought aloud.
"Jack…" He heard behind him, "That's not true."
Jack turned around to see Toothina hovering there behind him.
"What is it Tooth?" Jack asked, "It is true."
"No Jack, we do want you around. Trust me, we're sorry we left you alone for all those years. I know we can't make up all those years of solitude but we do want to make it so you aren't alone anymore." She said sadly.
Jack looked up looking like the upset 14 year old he was mentally and physically. To Tooth it was heartbreaking. His eyes showed the 300 years of loneliness. His eyes were sad, shattered with the silence of 300 years. He was a mere child; a child who was left alone, the Guardians shouldn't have let that happen.
"Is that true?" Jack asked, emotionally vulnerable in front of someone for the first time.
Tooth came closer to him, "Of course it is Jack. Please, come back to the workshop."
Jack took Tooth's hand and nodded. They went back to the workshop to see the other Guardians.
"Jack, why did you leave workshop?" North asked.
"I-I thought you didn't want me around…" Jack said looking down.
"Jack, you may be a pain but we'll always want you around." Bunny said ruffling the winter spirit's hair.
Sandy glared at Bunny obviously thinking Jack was not a pain. Then Sandy floated to Jack and hugged him.
Jack gave a sad laugh at Bunny's comment.
"Jack, you are not pain, we do want you around." North said, "Stay for party at least."
Jack joined the guardians in the celebration and the guardians made a silent vow to help Jack.
