Dana Nina Andrews sighed. She was fourteen and went to the prestigious Thymine High. I hate it here, she sighed, pushing her hair away from her face. It was long and black and dark, and came to her ankles. She had really light skin, and always wore dark, long-sleeve shirts to hide her bruises. Someday I'll kill you, Mark, she thought, rubbing the recent bruise.

"Hey, DNA!" a voice said.

Dana turned, looking for the speaker. "Oh hey Chelse," she answered, giving a weak smile. "What's up?"

"Not much," Chelsea answered. "Oh, before I forget, I wanted to say I like your ring."

"Oh, thanks," Dana shrugged, examining her ring. It was made of an expensive, silvery material and had a double helix sticking out of a diamond rock. The helix was made of six colors, each one a precious stone. "I got it from my birth parents, I was told."

Suddenly, a huge girl threw Chelsea against the wall and took her wallet. "That'll teach you to not pay me back!" the girl screamed, leaving.

"ARE YOU OKAY CHELSE?" Dana screamed, helping her friend up. "What happened?"

"I'm fine," Chelsea answered, sniffling. "I just forgot to pay her back."

The two girls went to class. Outside, a mysterious shadow moved around the school.

Dana dreamed that she saw a gorgeous man with really long blonde hair kissing her. "You are the Double Helix," he whispered, pulling her close. Then she saw all five of her best friends. "WE ARE THE DOUBLE HELIX!" they shouted.
