"Dammit Jim! I thought you came in here to get your shot for whatever goddamn, disease ridden country you're visiting this time."
"I came here because I was hoping that my best friend who's a doctor would let me get away with not taking the shots and just filing the paper work anyway."
One look at Bones' hard face and all hopes flew out the window.
"Jim, as your best friend and doctor, I'm not going to let you die of some foreign disease just because you hate needles."
"No Bones, it's not a hate. It's a full blown phobia. I'm really freaking terrified of them."
"Jim, think of it this way. If you end up getting malaria or something else, there will be many other needles involved to keep you alive."
Jim paled. "Then I won't get sick."
"Damn straight you won't." He lunged for Jim who squeaked and hid behind the operating table.
After a brief scuffle, Bones finally had Jim pinned under him.
"Are you ready to be a good boy now?" He growled.
Jim nodded.
Bones let him up. "Sit," he said imperiously, pointing at the operating table.
Jim sat, looking like a deer in the headlights.
"Close your eyes if it will make you feel better," Bones said, prepping the syringe.
Jim squeezed his eyes shut. "Please don't make me do this Bones."
He gasped as something cold and wet touched his arm.
"Shh," Bones said, in his calming doctor tone. "It's just the alcohol prep pad."
Jim felt warm hands rub over his shoulders, relaxing a little bit despite himself. "It's just a little shot. Relax. It won't hurt."
Jim supposed he should have noticed when one of the hands left, but it wasn't until he felt the small prick and rush of cold liquid into his system like a balloon expanding in his arm that he noticed. He yelped and flinched away, but Bones had already drawn the needle back, a triumphant smirk on his face.
Jim scowled at him.
"Go, have fun in Tanzania or wherever. And now you won't get sick and I won't have to stick you with any more needles."
Jim stuck his tongue out in a childish gesture. "Traitor."
Author's Note: This is in honor of me getting a shot today. It sucked. A lot. This is a rare occurrence. I usually don't write stuff this short.
