DETENTION WITH THE SNAKE
A one-shot fanfiction...
~I don't own them, I just take them out to play!~
Severus flipped open his ledger and began to make his yearly report. The Potions Master wasn't as bad as they thought he was when grading assignments. He just wanted them to prove that they were worth getting that grade. Only one student ever came to his office to let him recheck her paper. Hermione Granger. It was a pity she only went twice. Her record was full of E's, with the exception of two O's. Severus sighed inwardly. The girl had grown into a real woman just the previous summer. And just as he hated dunderhead students, he almost despised the feeling he had developed for the young witch. He checked the time warily. 7:33 P.M. Just a few minutes more before the witch in question would serve detention with him.
FLASHBACK:
"Ronald! Why won't you do your own assignments instead of playing Quidditch the whole night?"
"Please, Hermione. Could you let me copy your Potions essay?"
"No. Honestly, Ronald. Can't you learn to live on your own two feet?"
"Just this once, 'mione. Let me copy your essay!"
"Fine."
"Yes--"
"On one condition. This is the last time you can ever copy my work. Understood?"
"Of course!"
Hermione handed him the thick stack of parchments just as Severus rounded the corner.
"Mr. Weasley, Miss Granger! Zero for this essay, and 50 points from Gryffindor—each. And detention tonight at eight, Miss Granger."
He walked away smugly, his cloak billowing behind him.
"Hermione..."
"Forget it, Ronald. I'm not talking or listening to you at the moment."
END OF FLASHBACK
A knock on the door startled Severus out of his reverie.
"Enter."
"Good evening, Professor Snape."
"You're early. Excited to serve detention?" he sneered.
"I just want to finish early, sir."
"I've read your essay, and it was—exemplary. However, since I caught you 'lending' your work to Mr. Weasley, I am forced to give you no grade. On a lighter note, it would be—sad, to waste your knowledge. So for your detention this evening, I would like you to write another essay, and it will be the one I will record. Begin."
Hermione stared openly at Severus. She had a little crush on him, and knew there were a million things she didn't know about him, and she was practically dying to uncover them. The compliment was a first.
"What are you waiting for, girl? Begin!"
A FEW MINUTES LATER...
"Professor, sir?"
Severus looked up at the voice and frowned.
"I'm done, sir." she said, handing him the parchment.
"Sit down."
She blushed lightly, and resumed her seat.
WHY I LOVE SEVERUS SNAPE:
-his hands look good
-his scowl is enchanting
-his voice is addicting
-his nose is wonderful
-he has a thirst for knowledge
-he isn't boring to talk to
-he matches me
…
and he's everything I always wanted.
"Am I correct, sir?"
Severus cocked an eyebrow.
"Let's see. Perhaps if I'll change 'Severus Snape' to 'Hermione Granger'?"
"You mean--?"
"Yes. For a long time now, actually."
Hermione knelt before him.
"You've been spending too much time on your own."
He stared into her milky-brown eyes, and lowered his head slowly.
"You're right... Hermione."
She touched his cheek gently.
"Kiss me?"
"I will do as my lady commands."
Then he brought his lips down for a heart-stopping kiss.
Hermione smiled as he kissed her. She was right on making that list after all.
Severus chuckled softly. The detention was turning out well. Perhaps he should do it more often.
The clock struck eight, and the Headmaster and Deputy Headmistress smiled as they watched the romantic exchange between Head Girl and Potions Master. It was time both found love.
