Dark.
It was so dark. Just like that night. He could only remember bits and pieces of those events. He remembered pain. That's right; he had died a lot that night. He had been hurt a lot by that strange woman fighting with Greed. They had hurt him so much, and he couldn't figure out why. He and Greed were supposed to be brothers, so why did he hurt him? What had he done wrong? Everyone had always hurt him….
But Pride. He had been there too. They had been tracking the Fullmetal Alchemist together. Pride had gotten hurt really bad too. They had both died a lot. He had suggested that they just go home to Father and have Father fix them up. But Pride had other ideas. Painful ideas. Painful ideas that he didn't like one bit.
He could see it again, the squirming shadows beneath his feet, Pride licking his lips, the shadow-mouth gaping wide, catching him. He could feel it squeezing him, trying to cut him in half. His eyes shot open as he sat bolt upright. Where was he? Blinking, he tried to get his eyes to adjust faster to the strange bright of this place. The room was big, with starched white walls and nothing else in it save for the bed he was sitting on and a chair, facing away from him. A shock of black amidst the sea of white told him that there was someone sitting there, though he could not tell who. So he took a deep breath, and froze.
He knew this scent. He had thought he would never smell it again. Sliding off the bed, his feet made soft tapping noises as he tottered over to the chair. It couldn't be them, but it smelled just like them. As he got closer, he knew it had to be. There was no mistaking that flowing, raven hair. He was right behind them now, and they hadn't stirred. Putting a finger to his lips, he leaned around the back of the chair, desperate to make sure. "Lust?"
The woman's eyes shot open, cold and calculating as always. Turning her gaze on him, they softened almost immediately as a small smile slipped to full, ruby-red lips. "Hello again, Gluttony."
His mouth split in a wide grin. Lust was here with him. Everything was as it should be. Except, "you died…."
She nodded, her smile faltering. "I did. You have too."
This made him stop for a moment. "We're… dead?" He looked up to see her nod of affirmation before lowering his gaze again, thinking for almost a full minute before coming to one single conclusion. "Then… I don't have to fight anymore? I can stay with Lust?"
A soft, warm chuckle slipped from her as she rose to her feet, only to kneel in front of him and place her long, slender arms around him. "That's right, Gluttony. No more fighting. You can stay with me."
His whole body relaxed as she held him, his bigger, beefier arms looped easily around Lust's thin frame, returning the embrace. "Good. I don't want to fight anymore. I don't want to hurt anymore. I want to stay with Lust forever."
Her eyes closed as he spoke, her smile widening some. "And you will." He could finally have all he wanted. He could stay in Lust's gentle care forever.
He was finally at peace.
