It had been so odd. I really wasn't sure what was going on when he did it, never really processed what he said. It had been a pretty normal night; I was following Zim around. Oddly, he had been with GIR and Tak (Mimi was nowhere in sight, which worried me). I keep replaying what happened in my head…

"Get lost, Dib-stink!" Zim hissed, lunging at me.

"Make me, space-boy!" I snapped back. "I'll get you, Zim!"

"Never!" the Irken whipped around, bolting from me. Naturally, I gave chase. Tonight was rough on me though; earlier I'd taken the last piece of pizza from Gaz and suffered the consequences.

"Ha!" Tak spat from across the street. I gave her as good a death glare as I could, and in reply she grinned and bolted into what appeared to be someone's backyard. GIR skipped after her happily. Zim seemed to be lagging behind a bit.

After recovering I managed to catch up to my green-skinned rival. For a moment, we walked silently next to each other. Tak and GIR disappeared behind a house, and I felt something grab my hand.

"Don't you tell anyone about this," I heard Zim snarl, "or I'll kill you." I stopped thinking. I could feel Zim's hand in mine, holding on tightly. My stomach twisted, and my face flushed.

"I won't," I replied, then quickly added, "if y-you don't, that is."

"Of course not."

The Irken let go of my hand when Tak and GIR came into view again, trotting to regain the leash of his 'dog.' The purple-eyed Irken shot me a grin and bolted to the opposite side of the yard.
