Disclaimer: I own nothing.
Authors notes: This came to me while watching the first couple episodes of Brotherhood. I was watching a scene where the creature young Ed and Al transmute reaches out to Ed, and I thought; 'It's reaching out to him. It see's him, can comprehend that he's there, that he's alive. It can't be soulless.' I had figured that, despite it's short life, it had to have had a soul, a being.
Now, I know they explain that bit later, but I just had to write this. It wouldn't leave me alone.
It's about that particular scene, only, from the creatures point of view.
Pain.
So much pain.
But what is pain? What is it?
...
What is what?
...
What am I?
Why do I hurt? Why does everything hurt so bad?
Can somebody tell me?
...
I'm in a place-container-room. It's bright. The bright hurts.
Why won't it go away?
Am I alone?
...
What is alone?
...
I see a thing. It moves.
It's tiny. Small.
It's crying out. Screaming.
Does it hurt? Does it hurt like I do?
It must.
...
Why do you hurt, little thing?
...
It wont look at me.
Why?
Please look, thing!
Acknowledge me.
Show me I exist.
...
There! It looks!
I see pain. It hurts more now.
But why? Is it my fault?
Have I hurt you, thing?
...
It's crying hard. It's sad.
Hurt.
I don't want you to be sad, little thing.
I don't want you to be sad.
I don't...
