AN: This is a rewrite. I couldn't bring myself to replace the original though because it was the first thing I ever wrote. Lyrics to song are on elyrics website.
AN2: Lyrics were removed because as we all know a fanfiction author's biggest fear is copyright infringement, we would love to not get the website and ourselves brought to court.
It's all over; Danny's been exposed. I swear it's not his fault; he never wanted this to happen. It's all some stupid ghost, Skulker's, fault. He attacked Paulina, knowing how big of a crush Danny has on her. He just wanted to protect her. Instead, he ended up using his ghostly wale on Skulker. Danny didn't know his powers were so amped up. He accidentally hurt and killed many residents in Paulina's neighborhood. They're giving him the death penalty. Even manslaughter would be a harsh name to put on this.
I guess this is just the hero's fate, to die young and to be hated. I don't know why people always turn on their hero on the slightest mistake. It's not fair. Even Paulina and his mother have turned on him. Tucker, Jazz, Jack, and I are the only living humans who want him to live. I suppose it's kind of funny how Jack is the parent who is defending him when it was always his life's mission to hunt and kill ghosts before.
This isn't a civil way to go either. He's roped to the grave of someone who died in the accident. They're going to shoot him. Maddie designed some machine to keep him from going ghost.
Everyone has gathered around to watch, like it's medieval times or something. It's some sport to people. All sorts of ghost hunters are here. Rihanna is here, that Caribbean singer. There's also a bunch of other people. They sold tickets, to "watch the murder burn." This is screwed up.
I walk up to Danny's sobbing form on the ground. "Danny, listen to me, you're going to be okay, just listen to me." I needed his attention, badly.
"Danny I love you." He needs to hear this. Before it's too late, he needs to hear this.
"Sam," he choked out, facing me now. Please don't be clueless anymore Danny, I need this.
"I've always loved you, since we were in fourth grade." I told him, hoping he would kiss me; last memories should always be happy.
With a little struggling, Danny managed to slip his frail arms around me. I grab him and hold him tight. All I could imagine from that point on was being with Danny.
why this war had to start, between ghosts and humans I mean. It's pointless. It's stupid, and it's going to kill someone today. Can't anyone see how wrong this is?
I kissed Danny. There's a lot more chemistry here than there ever was with Gregor or whoever he really was. "When you die, I'm going to follow." I don't know why I told him this; it just sent him into hysterics. "It's okay, we can be together. All that matters is love, Danny, all that matters is love." I whispered to him. It was a lie.
When I glanced up I saw a man, with harsh eyes and a harsh gun, gesturing at me to move. "Move girl." He demanded. I won't move.I kissed Danny for one last time as a living mortal.
The executioner must have been tired of waiting because he kicked me once. I didn't move so he dismissed me and pulled the trigger. When the bullet hit at first there was nothing. I was expecting more than I felt, then it burned. I knew I would never see Danny again so I whispered/choked "goodbye" out. Praying he could understand that this was what I wanted all along.
