Robin sat in silence as he heard Batman´s constant complains about the exercise. He wasn´t mad at him, just disappointed. Robin looked over the window of the car and tried to stop thinking. He listened to Batman complaining about his lack of coldness in all the situation and the way he should had took control over the situation even before Aqualand´s "dead".
The car stopped in front of the cave and Batman stepped out of it without stopping his monologue. Robin also stepped out but slower. He looked over his tutor and bit his lip. Batman´s mask was gone and now Dick could see Bruce´s face. He was staring at the big screen to Gotham´s news. He looked so focus, so comfortable…so real.
Dick sighed as he remembered the first part of the exercise; the part when everyone was dead or missing; the part where he was left alone again. Dick tight his fist and tried to hold the tears that were staring to appear. He remembered doing the same thing hours before during his dream. He had to keep composure and cat cool. He was a superhero after all.
"Dick; are you listening to me?" Dick opened his eyes and stared at Bruce. He was looking at him with his usual cold face but in his eyes he could read concern. Dick nodded and then looked away as he tried to imagine that place without Bruce; his life without Bruce.
"I know the exercise was more than what anyone had expected and you didn´t do everything as you were supposed but…" Bruce stopped to think about the words he was about to say. He put his hand over Dick´s shoulder and made him look at him. "You did a good job at the end. Giving your life for a friend is not something everybody can do."
Dick barely heard the complement. His mind was too focused in Bruce touch. He was there, he was alive and everything in the dream had been a lie. Bruce gave him a slight smile and then everything inside Dick broke. He let a gasp escape from his mouth and then he threw himself at Bruce´s arms. He hugged him tightly and let some tears fall from his eyes. He couldn´t stand the thought of almost losing his guardian, his second dad. It was too painful to even think about the chances. Bruce took a while to get the situation but when he did he put his arms around the young bird in a protective way.
"For a moment…" Dick said between sobs. "I really thought you were gone, forever." Bruce held him tighter and kissed him in the forehead. He could imagine the kid´s pain. He had lost his parents just a few years ago and Mrs. Martian had done a great job turning their minds into a mess. He would never admit it to anyone, but the moment he knew Robin had entered to a coma state he had freaked out in the inside. Outside he kept as cool as usual but he had been scared; probably as scared as Robin was then.
"I will never leave you alone…" whispered Bruce. "as long as you never leave me too."
Robin nodded quickly and then he pressed his head against Bruce´s chest. He heard his heart beating and that calmed him down. Bruce was alive. Bruce was okay. Batman was still there.
