Nico wanted to melt into the shadows when his name was called to be on Percy's Capture the flag team, which is exactly what he did.

He realized it wouldn't be all that bad. On his team was the Hecate cabin, Hebe, Nemesis, Iris, Dionysus, Apollo cabins plus him and Percy.
Nico cut through the shrubbery with his sword and then shadow traveled a few feet from an Ares camper, whom he imprisoned in a skeleton cage. He shadow traveled to the edge of the trees where he saw Percy controlling the water and hitting Malcolm, Annabeth's half brother , in the face with a ball of it. He summoned a wave and washed a few Hephaestus kids away before one of them could summon a ball of fire ( After the war with Gaea a lot of new kids had been found, some of them were like Leo had been or Piper was.)
He melted into the shadows and crept right behind Percy. He tapped Percy's shoulder and when Percy looked over the side, Nico reappeared.
Percy's eyes brightened when he saw him. Nico summoned a skeleton to take care of the Ares kid that had just raised his spear to throw at Percy.
Then Percy spoke and time almost literally stopped.
"Hey Nico, how's it going?"
Nico realized to late that a flaming comet was coming out of the sky. The only thing he noticed was that it sounded distinctly like two girls screaming. Then it blew up behind him and Percy grabbed him and pulled him to his chest before they both were thrown onto the ground.
When the dust cleared Nico saw where Percy was and he almost fainted. Percy's face was right next to Nico's. The thing that surprised him even more was that their lips were touching, and Percy was the cause
