Chapter 1: Love Is The Reson Why We Fight
He was terrified. Training to kill Titans. He wasn't sure if he ever wanted to see them again. After watching his own parents getting torn apart by them. He was repulsed by their behavior.
The thought of his parents death scarred him. His sister had to push him to run back then. At the time, her shaking with so much fear, he couldn't move. Who wouldn't shake, though? He was just a little ten year old that watched his parents get eaten.
Back then, he remembered crying for his mother. Shouting for his father. But they weren't there. Not anymore. Her had turned to his sister, desperately telling her not to go. She was much older and understood more things than he did.
He remembered how he forced his sister to promise to never leave him. She agreed quickly as she grabbed his small hand and ran. They made it on to the small boat just in time. They were both breathing harshly.
He noticed how disheveled she looked. She wasn't as graceful as he'd had known. No, she was shaking just like him. Tears started to well up as he thought of the pain his sister had. He wasn't sure why, but he tackled her into a tight hug. He remembered that muttered softly an 'I love you' to her.
It wasn't long until she burst into tears as well. She cried softly because she did not want to be heard. It was heartbreaking for him. He hated it when his sister cried. She didn't looked good crying. He lover her smiles. Her laughs. Her teasing.
His sister held him tightly, still sobbing her dreaded heart out. She whispered a broken 'I love you too' to him. He nodded and held her tighter. He had stopped shedding his tears long ago. He had to take care of his sister now.
He promised himself internally to protect his sister at all cost. To forever keep her happy. Smiling and laughing like her usually graceful self.
"I promise to keep you happy, Claire." He said aloud.
Claire slowly stifled her sobs, and released her younger brother. She looked at him sadly. His innocent blue eyes staring intently at her depressing form. Then, she let out a small smile and hugged him affectionately once more.
"I know you will, Léon. I know." She said softly.
He felt powerful when he said those words to her. He was definitely gonna keep his promise to her till the day of his death. She let go of Léon and playfully rolled her eyes at him.
"Shoudn't it be the other way around, Leo?" She asked teasingly.
Léon looked at her confusingly. How did his sister go from sad to happy in the matter of seconds? It was extremely confusing. But, he was happy to see his sister happy again. He definitely didn't mind that fact back then. He promised her.
Léon loves his sister with all of his heart. He wasn't going to fail her.
His mind cleared the fear of facing a Titan. He remembered his promise. His love for his sister. Yes, he wasn't terrified anymore. He wasn't shaking with fear.
He stood proudly with his right arm across his chest, his hand curved slightly to the left. His left arm placed on his lower back.
He was going to get through this.
After all...
Love is the reason why he fights.
