Pairings: Makorra, Bosami

Rating: K+ (I think?)

1. Life

She doesn't exactly remember when she fell in love with him but she knew she was.
Every time she saw him with Asami she felt this amazing amount of jealousy but at the same time also an amazing amount of sadness and pain.
Asami was everything she wasn't; beautiful, smart, rich... She could offer him a perfect future of happiness and no worries while she, being the avatar, would only bring him troubles and dangerous situations.
As much as she wanted him to hold her and tell her how much he loves her she didn't have it in her to break apart their relationship, to steal away his happiness.
She couldn't affort it to let him or Asami or Bolin get hurt and when she finally accepted that, she was able to do the hardest step for an avatar: 'Letting go'.

She watched from afar how he and Asami were discussing something, probably where to go on their next date. She didn't know where Bolin was but she didn't really want to see him right now because not too long ago he had told her he had feeling for her but she wasn't able to return them.
She turned away her sight from them and faced the other way. She was going to protect them, protect the city, protect the world. She was going to face Amon and fulfil her duty to keep peace.

But what she didn't know was that as soon as she'd wake up after the big battle she would find herself laying on the ground with her head in Mako's arms.
She didn't expect the worried expression on his face to turn into an enormous smile of relief and happiness.
She didn't expect him to say "Korra.. you did it.. you defeated Amon" and hug her.
But what she didn't expect the most was for him to kiss her turning her face as red as his scarf, tell her he loved her and was sorry for everything.

At that moment she thought her heart might have exploded.

*Extra*

Asami sat on some abandoned stairs somewhere in the city with a pout on her face.
Her elbows were resting on her knees and hands under her chin. She was sure everyone that passed by would see the troubled and somewhat sad expression on her face but she didn't care.
Not too long before Mako had run off to find and help Korra they had broken up.
He had told her that he was sorry but his feelings for Korra were stronger than the ones he had for her.
It wasn't like she didn't expect this to happen, she kinda saw it coming but it still saddened her that it wasn't her he loved.

She turned her eyes a bit to the left when she heard someone sit down not too far from her.
It was Bolin, Mako's little brother, who was sitting in the same position. Her gaze fell back to stare at the ground in front off her feet again.

They both sighed at the same moment.
"Life sucks, doesn't it?" she heard Bolin mumble.
"Yeah it does" she replied back with the same bored tone.

She heard him change his position to look at the small, passing clouds in the for some reason terribly blue sky.

...

"Sooo...I'm Bolin"

Her eyes turned back to his side only to see a stretched out hand in front of her face.
She looked up and saw Bolin smile down at her and for the first time in a while she allowed herself to smile a real smile.
"Yeah.. I'm Asami"
and she took his hand.

'Maybe life doesn't suck that much after all.'
