Rose Tyler, age nineteen, was currently unemployed. Currently unemployed and seeking to change that. She sat in a coffee shop, reading the classified ads, her last resort. She was so engrossed in her search, she didn't notice a woman with curly, strawberry blonde hair enter.
"Mind if I sit here?" Rose jumped a little as the curly-haired lady spoke, pulling out a chair on the other side of the table, "It's full in here."
"Yeah, yeah, sure," Rose mumbled, taking her in. The woman had, as previously mentioned, curly red-blonde hair and was carrying a strange, dark blue book. The book was thick and the cover was decorated in odd little squares.
She opened this book and flipped through the pages; Rose, curious, tried to spy a look at the words inside. It was hand written- a journal- but the only thing Rose could make out was 'Doctor' over and over again, between other words.
"Job hunting?" the woman asked, eying Rose's papers.
"Yeah, but I haven't been 'aving much luck, no one wants to hire a girl without a proper education, you know?"
The woman nodded, then turned back to her blue book.
"I have a flyer- oh where is it? It's a help wanted ad of Henrik's. You heard of it?" the woman had found the paper and pushed it across the table, towards Rose, "I think you should look into it."
"Really?" Rose picked up the page in excitement, "Thank you! I'm Rose by the way."
The woman smiled knowingly and closed her book, "River."
Hello! I apologize if River is at all out of character, I'm going to admit that I've... er... never actually seen an episode with her in it. So, yes... Please don't flame, I'm working my way through the series and just got this idea. Please review! JAS
