Snowflakes

Twirling, dancing, falling, the snowflakes made their decent to earth. The red head below them was staring at the black night sky. She held her arms out with blacked gloved hands reaching to the heavens.

Closing her eyes, she frowned as she thought of the last month. The snowflakes stopped abruptly, and Lily Evans opened her brilliant green eyes. A seeming dome like a fish bowl held the snow back.

"James!" She guessed laughing. Her boyfriend, James Potter, wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Put me down!" James laughed as he twirled Lily around. Setting her down gently, he kissed her sweetly.

"What's the frown for?" James asked.

"I was thinking about the past month, all those Death Eater sightings." She sighed, tears forming in her eyes. She'd lost so many friends in those sightings. James noticing her tears held her head. Kissing her forehead and holding her close. She sniffled into his shoulder.

Undoing the bubble charm that was holding the snowflakes away, James let the white crystals fall gracefully around them. They landed in Lily's red hair, dusting it with white. Pulling back, he saw Lily give him a watery smile.

"Sorry." She said sheepishly, brushing at her eyes.

"No Lily flower." James said smiling sadly at her. "You have nothing to be sorry for."

She smiled stronger. Lily turned so her back was pressed against his chest. His arms slipped around her waist again.

James picked her up bridal style and placed her gently on the snowy ground cuddling close to her. They sat in companionable silence, staring into the black distance.

Suddenly James stood, pulling Lily up with him. He fumbled with his robe pockets producing what seemed like a small teacup. Lily stared at it with a raised eyebrow. Saying a complicated spell, James turned the teacup into a small black box.

"Lily Evans. Ever since I saw you, I loved you. I watched you grow from a charming young red head, to an intelligent fiery woman. We've been together for two years and less then friends before that, but I love you Lily and if something happens to us, I don't want to have missed this chance. I'm asking, will you to marry me?" The black box flipped open and a brilliant diamond glittered in the center.

Lily's hands flew to her mouth, fresh tears leaping to her eyes. James seeing her reaction said, "If you don't feel the same then I understand but I love you with all my heart, Lily flower. Will you be mine?"

"James Potter you are the most arrogant, self centered, egotistical, bullying toe rag, I've ever met. It would be an honor to marry you."

"Sorry to…What?" His eyes opened wide and he grinned. Jumping up once more he twirled her around, before kissing her joyously.

Taking out the ring, he slid it onto her finger. They both laughed gleefully. James enveloped the future Mrs. Potter in another kiss.

Remus Lupin walked from the scene with a bounce in his step and a tune on his lips. Smiling brightly, he stepped inside Grimwald place, waiting for the new couple to share the good news, as tiny snowflakes sank down from the black sky.
