Tattoos and Scars.

It was late, very late, like 3 am I have to get up in the morning for work late, but we couldn't stop. I really wanted to know the stories of his tattoo's and the scar that marred his perfect skin.

'Andy we have to get up don't you think we should sleep?' Nick also most begged in a hoarse voice.

I leaned over him as I walked back up to the bed from returning to the bathroom and kissed his shoulder as I crawled over him to get to my side of the bed.

'No not yet,' I muttered and I kissed the scar on his right shoulder, I felt him tense up at this action.

'Nick, what happened?' I whispered into the darkness of my bedroom.

He rolled over to face me and frowned slightly. 'I got shot.'

'Yeah I can tell that, but what happened for you to get shot.'

'I…a few fellow soldiers and I were clearing a building while my buddy, Dean was at Humvee. The building we were in started taking fire and we all got to the ground, I managed to crawl back to the front door to get to Dean he was in the machine gun and I started to fire towards where they were shooting from and I remember yelling to Dean to fire to his left and as he turned he took fire and I watched him slump over the gun and there was so much blood and I ran towards him and managed to get to the Humvee, I pulled him down and we had enough cover. I managed to stop the bleeding but one of the shooters managed to get on the street, fired at me and a bullet entered the back of my shoulder and another in my vest. All I remember falling alongside Dean and the gun firing stopping.'

I placed my forehead against his forehead and sighed.

'Both Dean and I were back on the field in eight weeks but it was life changing for him and he left soon after due to being too terrified to get back in a Humvee. I don't blame him, when someone gets shot in those vehicles they try their best to get the blood stains out but they can't.'

Nick pulled me closer to his warm body and I giggled when he jump from the contact of my cold feet.

I smiled in the dark and kissed him softly. When I pulled away Nick then asked me, 'What about you, your tattoo on your ribs? What does it mean to you?'

I pulled away from him slightly his arms stopping me and he asked again, 'What is the meaning of your tattoo?'

'For those I love I will sacrifice.' I said to him.

'I got it while we're were under cover, I just wanted something to reminded me that I am a police officer and I will sacrifice myself for my job, my family and my friends. It means a lot to me, to my dad as well. I remember when it was finished I felt like even though those few months they were hard to be on the other side, it was worth it because we took down a huge drug ring.'

'Ahh I was wondering why you were favouring the left side of your ribs during those last few weeks.'

I smiled when nick placed his hand on my ribs where the writing lay and with his other hand he pulled me in for a kiss. I set myself on top of him and smiled into the kiss.

In the night, I confessed to him, 'I love this, I love us.'

He laughed and pulled my flush against him and replied, 'I love this too.'
