I bowed my head.
'You know that's not fair.'
He turned away.
'I guess you know what you choose.'
Tears formed in my eyes.
'Shane, please don't do this to me.'
He got up.
'Its over.'
He took a step.
'Please.'
And another.
'Please Shane.'
He was walking away.
'Please.'
Silence.
'I love you.'
Now he listened.
'I love you Shane.'
He turned on his heel.
'Then why do you always pick him?'
He had pain in his eyes.
'That's not true.'
I saw the pain turn to hatred.
'A month ago. Boat trip on the lake.'
I went shopping.
'You picked him.'
5 missed phone calls, 13 unread texts.
'2 weeks ago. Fireworks in the park.'
Bonfire night. I went to a party.
'You picked him.'
6 phone calls, 7 texts.
'Last week. Picnic under the stars.'
I remembered back to that night.
'You picked him.'
1 call, 3 texts.
'You always pick him.'
I looked at my feet.
'That's not true.'
But it was.
'Even you know that's a lie.
I continued staring at my feet.
'I'll miss you.'
He turned to leave again.
'You always pick him.'
Why was I doing this?
'Shane?!'
What was I thinking?
'Shane!'
I don't love him.
'Come back!'
I love Shane.
'Shane, I don't love him!'
This can't be over.
'I love you.'
I can't end all this tonight.
'I always did!'
Not for him.
'Shane, I'm picking you.'
He paused.
'I love you Shane.'
He turned faced me.
'I love you Shane.'
Tears streaming down his face.
'I love you too.'
And he kissed me.
