A/N: Hi everyone! Welcome to chapter 1 of my new My Hero Academia story! I really hope you like it as I have been kicking this idea and character around for a long while. Special thanks to MaxGentlman 1 for beta reading and helping with ideas. Speacial thanks also go to VenomSPider33, and Ghost Fire for also letting me discuss ideas with them. Check all them out after you're done here!

Also should say that Ms. Joke and Eraserhead are a little older in this than they are in canon by about 5 years each. And are separated by one year in age putting them at 36 for Eraser and 35 for Ms. Joke.

Disclaimer: I do not own Myhero/Boku no Hero Academia I own the OC and love the world.

Enjoy!

-Musutafu, Japan. Two Months Before UA Entrance Exams-

"Wait what?" A teenage boy with long auburn hair, hazel eyes, and slightly tanned skin asked, staring across a small dining room table.

Shota Aizawa stared across at his son, taking a long drink of tea before speaking in his usual calm voice.

"I know you aren't hard of hearing, Suzaku. I said I'm not going to put your name in as a recommendation."

The teen ran a hand through his hair glaring at the man.

"Why not!? I'm good enough to at least get considered for those exams and you're a teacher there!" Suzaku said, his voice raising just slightly.

"Because there are others to be considered and in any case, if you really want into UA so bad then you'll find a way to pass the practical just like anyone else," Shota stated.

"So what? I'm not good enough to even be considered as a recommendation then!?" He demanded.

Just as Shota opened his mouth to respond the front door swung open and a loud and happy voice called out, "I'm home and I only had to beat up one guy on the way back! Had to break a few eggs but.." Emi Aizawa (formerly Fukukado), the pro hero known as Ms. Joke, stopped talking as she entered the dining room to find her son glaring across the table at her husband.

"I missed something didn't I?" She said, looking back and forth between them.

"Not at all. Dad's being an asshole; business as usual," Suzaku growled before stomping past his mother across the living room and up the stairs to his own room.

Shota sighed rubbing his eyes before looking to Emi, "He gets that part of his attitude from you."

"Maybe, but better than being such a downer all the time. What happened?" She asked.

"I won't let him into the recommendation exams. He didn't take it well," Shota said.

"I assume you explained to him why?" She asked, putting the groceries away.

"He didn't exactly give me a chance."

"Right, of course. What would you do without me, Eraser?" She asked, heading for the stairs as he prepared to go out on patrol.

"Live a much more peaceful life?" He said dryly and Emi laughed stopping at the foot of the stairs looking over her shoulder.

"Yeah, sure but where's the fun in that? Besides, if you didn't love me then why propose, and why stay?" She asked.

Shota opened his mouth seemed to think for a moment then shut it in defeat. Emi's smile, if possible, grew wider. "Yeah, that's what I thought. Be careful out there tonight," She said winking at him before heading upstairs.

She stepped into a short hallway before coming to a stop in front of a door. She gave one soft knock before pushing the door open and was unsurprised to find her son leaning over a workbench in the corner of his mid-sized room, working on something.

She smiled a little, the kid was at the very least a wiz with technology. So much so that for a time she had thought he was going to go the route of the support course. They would have been proud either way, but she wouldn't lie about how good she felt knowing he wanted to be hero.

Deciding to have some fun, at least for her, she crept up behind him arms raised preparing for her ultimate tickling attack and..

"Mom why are you trying to sneak up on me?" Suzaku asked looking over his shoulder at her in bemused confusion.

"I… uh… nothing, nothing at all. Just seeing if you were keeping your guard up is all. Yeah," She said, lowering her arms and quickly.

"Right," Suzaku sighed before going back to work on his gadget. A moment or two passed in silence before he sighed, setting his tools down and turned to her.

"Why doesn't dad think I'm good enough for the Recommendation Exams?" He asked. Emi smiled a little as she sat down on his bed upside down.

"That's not the case. Your dad loves you. It's just in his nature to be a bit of a downer, and occasionally make things harder than they have to be. He wouldn't keep you out of those exams if he didn't think you could get in through the normal ones."

"I'm not sure I can. I've seen the Entrance Exams, how am I supposed to destroy giant robots? My quirk doesn't really lend itself to that sort of thing," He sighed, slumping back into his chair.

"Come on! You're smart! Look at all the gear you can make! You'll find a way. I have faith in that. Besides, remember you don't have to destroy them, you just have to defeat them," She said casually.

Suzaku let out a sigh, before suddenly what she said seemed to pass through his mind and he sat bolt upright staring at her never wavering smile with a curious face; "Are you saying that there are other ways to take them down that don't involve destruction?" He asked carefully.

"Maybe, maybe not. Who knows?" She shrugged flipping off his bed and standing up straight; "I am saying keep an open mind, and even though your dad doesn't show it he does have faith in you," She said hugging him.

"I'm not so sure about that," Suzaku sighed into her shoulder.

"Well, I am. You'll see it one day. Now come on turn that frown upside down, I can't have two downers in the house." She said, using her quirk a little to make him start to laugh uncontrollably.

"M… mom… knock… it… off!" He said between bursts of laughter as she also started to tickle him.

"No way! Not until I'm sure you've cheered up!" She said, continuing in her attack and taking a great pleasure in just hearing her son laugh.

-UA Entrance Exams-

Suzaku stared up at the gates of the Exams hall. He still wasn't completely sure about this, in fact if he were being honest with himself he wasn't sure he had ever been more nervous.

'Just get through this, you can do it. You have the ability.' He thought to himself before feeling the gear he had brought with him and taken the time to register for use in the Exam.

Letting out a nervous breath he headed inside and after getting his registration number sat down and waited for things to start. While he waited he was joined by others.

Sitting to his left were two boys one with dark green hair and the other with ash blonde hair who seemed to know each other and not be huge fans of each other, at least from how they spoke to each other, or at least the blonde one.

Off to his right was a short girl with a round face and a short equine muzzle, her face was framed by thick, wavy blonde hair, reaching halfway down her back. Her eyes were large and round, Prussian blue in color, and she had a pair of tall, lyre-shaped pale tan horns on her head. Her calves were rounded, and shaped similarly to those of a horse, she had brown hooves for feet and a short blonde horse tail.

She glanced over and shot him a smile, and seemed about to speak before all the lights went out and Present Mic took the stage to explain the Exam, which was about what he had expected, though he had no idea what the zero pointer was. His dad had never mentioned that. After the explanation, he was sent off to change with the others and be sent to one of the exam's false cities.

Swallowing his nerves he changed into a black and red tracksuit. He slipped a grey pouched utility belt like his fathers around his waist, as well as a long grey capture cloth around his neck. The last thing he pulled on was a pair of long grey gauntlets that reached up to his elbows.

'Okay, you can do this,' He kept thinking to himself as the busses took them to the fake city. He looked around and saw a great many different looking people including the girl that had been sat beside him as well as the ash blonde haired boy.

No one said anything, everyone seemed either tense or excited. Soon they were exiting the busses and they all had to stop and marvel at what they saw. They stood before a gigantic gate that appeared to lead into a gigantic replica city.

"It's times like this that really make you wonder what the budget for this school must be." Suzaku said aloud to no one in particular as he waited for some sort of countdown to start, which never came as instead Present Mic appeared on top of the nearby building.

"Hey! Hey! What are you all waiting for!? There are no countdowns in real battles! You've only got ten minutes get moving!" He called out as they all rushed forward. Seeing a swarm of people about to overwhelm him Suzaku held up his right arm.

A grapple line shot onto a nearby building from his gauntlet and pulled him upwards and onto it. He let out a breath of relief before heading via rooftops into the city. As he went he saw the boy with ash blonde air rocket ahead of the others mini explosions in his palms as he destroyed the first of the robot villains.

Deciding that following the explosive blonde was going to lose him points and time he grappled off to the right and deeper into the city. Using his graples to swing between buildings he found a three pointer.

Gaining some momentum he let go of his swing at his highest point, before letting it disentangle. As he fell towards the ground, he hit another button on his other gauntlet letting out the line out the grapple became a rounded and heavy weight.

Swinging his arm around, he brought it down on the robot's head, smashing clean through it. As he landed, another robot, this one a single pointer, charged him. He reached into his belt and threw out several sharper than usual caltrops in front of it.

It hit them and it's tires popped causing it to fall forward and shut down. Taking a moment, Suzaku noted a few things. First, it had shut down as soon as it had been unable to move, he didn't need to destroy it. He bent down and examined the robot and noted a small switch beneath it's right arm. A switch that he was willing to bet could have shut it down if he had been forced to fight it. He smiled. There were ways to get points without having to destroy them.

'Granted, being able to simply destroy them makes it easier, but still they really did want everyone to stand at least a chance,' He thought to himself, grappling off into the city. He managed to rack up points using a combination of his grapples and meteor hammers, as well as finding and getting to each robot's weak point.

As he landed, having shut down another single pointer, a two point robot rounded the corner, bearing down on him. He leap away from the robot, avoiding its attack, but it caught him in the ribs. He fell to the ground, but before it could knock him out an object whizzed through the robots head and it fell over.

"You looked like you could use some help," A girl's voice said and looking up, he noticed the blonde girl with horns on her head smiling down at him, one of her horns hovering beside her as one regrew on her head.

"Uh, yeah, thank you," He said, taking her hand as she helped him up.

"No problem, we need to move. We can't have a lot of time left," She said seriously and he nodded as they ran through the streets, coming across several wrecked robots along the way. Suzaku paused for a moment as the girl proceeded.

By his own count he had at least thirty-eight points. Was that going to be enough? 'Maybe I can squeeze a few more in if I can just find another.' He thought looking around as he ran further into the city. He prepared to grapple up when he noticed something.

The girl who had helped him up was using her horns to take down a few more robots. She was focused on that to the point that when another applicant with Super Strength of some kind threw a robot into a building. A large chunk of building and robot was headed right for her.

Rushing forward, he threw out his capture cloth. It wrapped around her waist just barely in time for him to pull her out of the way. Once she righted herself, she smiled.

"Thanks for that," She said.

"No problem. Consider it a thank you," He said, actually smiling back as she nodded and together they headed north. Both felt good until the ground beneath them began to shake and a giant robot with zeros on its arms rose from the ground not too far from them.

"You've got to be kidding me! That's a zero pointer!?" Suzaku shouted as they both did the only sensible thing and ran. Neither of them really had the quirk to deal with this, to Suzaku's surprise the girl flung out her arm to stop him.

"You do realize that we need to escape right?" He asked.

"I know, but I can get us away faster." She said before shooting her horns from her head. Holding her hands to her for head like another set of horns she began to move her fingers and her horns swung around scooping them both up and carrying them away.

"Whoa, great work…" He paused he didn't know her name, but she smiled.

"Pony. Pony Tsunotori. And you are?" She asked.

Pony Tsunotori! Her quirk: Horn Cannon! She can fire off several horns in succession, with a new set regenerating on her head almost instantly. She possesses the ability to remotely control up to four of them at time, allowing her to change their mid-air trajectory to get around or through obstacles. Though her horns are extremely strong they require keratin ingestion in order to retain their strength. It is possible to prevent Pony from using her Quirk by just holding her horns in place.

"Suzaku Aizawa. Thanks for getting us out of there, Pony."

"It's no trouble that's what heroes are supposed to…" She started before they heard yelling from below. Looking down they saw a small group of people had fallen near the tracks of the robot.

"Oh no!" Pony cried shooting two more horns from her head and sending them flying towards the group as they stopped in mid air. Suzaku noticed a problem: as strong and fast as her horns were, the more they held the slower they moved.

With very little thought put into an intricate plan he shot a grapple from each arm and into a building on either side of him. Leaning back until the lines were tense as they could be he hit the button and was yanked forward off the horn and towards the robot. Once he was a little closer, he released his left gauntlet so he was now swinging in at an angle.

He felt his right arm screaming in protest at the strain it was suddenly under alone. As he neared those that hadn't been saved by Pony's horns, he flung out his capture weapon. Wrapping around them, he pulled them and himself out of the way even as he felt some of the bones in his arm finally break under strain as his shoulder was pulled out of place as well.

He cried out in pain as they just managed to land out of the robots path. As the teens he had saved began to check on him and Pony rode one of her horns over to them, he heard Present Mic's voice.

"That's it, boys and girls! Time's up!" As the robot simply shut down.

'Okay so maybe meteor hammers only on the gauntlets, possibly mount the grapples on the belt? Work on that after I get my arm fixed,' He thought, gritting his teeth.

-Exam Observation Room-

The teachers, as well as the panel of judges were all watching as the Exams came to an end. Shota stood in the center of them, having just watched his sons narrow rescue.

"You got quite a gutsy son there, Eraser. Could have tried to pull it off without hurting himself though," Vlad King pointed out.

"Sometimes such injuries are unavoidable in hero work. The fact remains that he and Ms. Tsunotori still managed to save their targets," Principal Nezu pointed out, smiling as he sipped his tea.

"That's a fair point. Rather impressive performance he had overall. Especially given how his quirk wasn't really made for this sort of fighting. He managed to use his head pretty well," Midnight said turning to him.

"You must be pretty proud, Eraserhead," She smirked.

In response, Shota gave a noncommittal shrug of his shoulders. However, in the dim lights of the room, she could swear he had smiled.

-Entrance Hall Post Exams-

Suzaku felt better, but really tired as he changed back into his regular clothes. He appreciated Recovery Girl's work, even if he was pretty sure the train ride home was going to lull him to sleep now.

As he left, he began to think on improvements for his tech, though that was more to try and take his mind off the Exams and if he had even passed. He let out a breath and kept walking until he looked up and found Pony now dressed in a red hoodie and blue jeans.

"There you are! I was beginning to think that I might have missed you!" She said, waving as she ran over.

"No, sorry I was caught up in my own thoughts," He said, smiling just a little as she stopped in front of him and to his surprise lifted his right arm to examine it.

"So, your arm's okay now, right?" She asked.

"Yeah, it's perfectly fine, I'm really tired, but apparently that's how Recovery Girl's quirk works. Still I am not the worst after these exams, apparently someone in the other city broke both they're legs and an arm," He said as they walked towards the gate.

"Wow, how did they manage that?" She asked.

"I don't know, sounds like they were being really reckless with their quirk. Maybe they can't handle it. Who knows," He shrugged as she nodded.

As they walked to the train station, a comfortable silence settled between them before she spoke again.

"So, listen, you want to maybe get together some time?" She asked hopefully, looking over to him. Suzaku was surprised, and it must have shown at least somewhat on his face because she started talking again.

"It's just, my family just moved to Japan or back in my dad's case, and I don't exactly have friends, and we worked pretty well together so I thought… but if you don't want to that's okay. I figured…" She said, starting to ramble a little.

"Sure, we can get together. I'd like that."

Pony's smile widened as she took out her phone, they put their numbers into each others phones before they had to split up, taking separate trains home.

"Bye, Suzaku! I'll text you later!" She said, sprinting off to catch her train.

Smiling, Suzaku boarded his own and actually managed to stay awake the whole ride as he was thinking up possible improvements to his grapple and other tech. He got home to find that his parents were both still out. So, microwaving some leftovers, he went to his room and sat down, eating as he started work on his belt.

At some point, as he worked and ate, he began to drift off to sleep. That was where his parents found him sound asleep, his upper body resting on his work bench.

"Well, looks like the Exam really took it out of him," Emi said carefully, pulling out his chair before picking up him up and and carefully laying him down in his bed.

"He used to be a lot easier to lift," She whispered.

"He also used to be a baby, not a teenager," He pointed out.

"Yeah, but no matter what, he's always going to be my baby," She said proudly as she shut his door.

"You can't always treat him like one."

"I won't but one of us has to be encouraging, speaking of you think he's getting in?" She asked.

"I don't know for sure, but he did impress a fair few. I think he at least stands a good chance," Shota said.

"Whoa, careful there Shota, that almost sounds like pride in your voice," She said teasingly, shooting him another wide smile. Shota didn't respond which just made her smile, if anything, wider.
