Dane
A boy in a black cloak, black shirt, and black pants was running away from the cops or should I say the cop and his partner who's an anthropologist teacher and police observer. He was bouncing happily through the alley unnoticed by Jim Ellison or Blair Sandburg.
Cautiously the two walked through the alley stumbling over everything that got in their way.
"Dane Davidson," Jim called out, "you are under arrest for the killing of Juna Honor, so come on out!"
"Ellison, not on your life," the boy called back, "you've got to find me first!"
"For Pete's sake, Dane," Blair yelled, "you know we are going to get you sooner or later, so you might as well come out!"
"Go back, Blair, and call for back up," Jim ordered, "I have a feeling we will be needing it."
"Honestly, Jim, I don't think so," Blair said, "What if you zone when I'm gone?"
"I promise I won't zone out on you, chief," Jim promised, "now go."
"Just be careful," Blair said over his shoulder as he went to go call for backup.
Knowing, Dane, he was alone with Jim he decided to have some fun with him. "Look Ellison, I'll make a deal with you," Dane called out echoing through the alley to Jim's sensitive ears and he flinched, then turning down his hearing just enough so he could hear what Dane had to say, "you find me and I'll go with you quietly and if you don't you let me go."
"Might as well," Jim mumbled to himself and turned up his line of sight. Now looking up, down, and all around the alley searching for the 6'9", 19-year-old boy, then he spotted him hiding in a darkened corner by the farthest wall. "Okay, Dane, I found you, now come on out," Jim stated moving toward the corner slowly.
"Please, you really think I believe that, how could you have found me in this darkness," Dane stated in disbelief.
Question unanswered, Dane stepped out of the corner finding the cop frozen in place staring where he was standing, so he took Jim's state to his advantage and started to walk toward the exit. Right then the sounds of police sirens could be heard in the distance, so he started hurrying his pace up a bit to the point of running. Suddenly a shadow was cast over him, thinking it was a cop he ran in the other direction.
"Tough cookies, Dane, you're trapped," called Blair as Brown, Rafe, and others from the precinct showed up beside him unnoticed.
"Up is always a good direction," Dane stated as he tried unsuccessfully to jump over the 30 foot wall.
"Very unlikely, though," stated another voice, "You are under arrest!"
"Where have you guys been,' Blair asked as he walked over to Jim to try to get him out of the zone, that he promised that wouldn't happen, "I've been waiting for 12 minutes, you're not suppose to keep us waiting!"
"Xylophone lessons, sorry," Rafe said sarcastically while he, Brown and the others cuffed Dane.
"Yo, Jim, come on man, listen to my voice and use it as a way to pull yourself back to the living," Blair instructed as he tried to get Jim out of his zone, then Jim blinked and looked at Blair in confusion written on his face.
"Zone out," Blair said simply Jim nodded his head in understanding, "and you promised that you wouldn't zone, so we get to do more tests," while he said that Jim groaned and Blair laughed.
THE END (or is it?)
